Five Reasons Why Las Vegas Raiders Could Confirm Antonio Pierce as Head Coach Post Kris Richard Interview
Follow Us
A tweet from Adam Schefter shed light on what the Las Vegas Raiders have been up to lately. They are browsing the market for a new head coach. However, we cannot ignore that every Raider loves Antonio Pierce, considering how he brought the team together after Josh McDaniels‘ reign. McDaniels didn’t even allow the players to be themselves and celebrate a win in the locker room. Here’s why the Raiders should give Antonio Pierces a hard second look.
Antonio Pierce ‘already’ auditioned for the team
After saving the team from embarrassment, Antonio Pierce is still listed as the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. He has been in the system for a while now. However, it looks like Mark Davis is hell-bent on exploring every possibility and ignoring that they already have what the team needs. They would rekindle a relationship from 17 years ago because, after letting go of an uptight coach and upgrading to a better one, the team is still facing challenges.

The Raiders considered all their options
“Ignoring” is not the correct keyword, but Schefter’s tweet made it more appropriate. He says the Las Vegas team is eyeing Kris Richard, an NFL assistant coach. They plan to hand the Raiders over to him. Richard played with the Raiders back in 2007, and he might have struck a chord with Mark Davis, as he called him in after all these years.

Schefter’s tweet said, “Raiders conducted an in-person head coaching interview today with longtime NFL assistant coach Kris Richard, who played for the team in 2007, per source. The 44-year-old Richard has coached with the Seahawks, Cowboys, and Saints.” It’s safe to say that some fans are fuming over this decision when they see the obvious choice in Antonio Pierce. Others are just making sad memes about the situation.
The team loves Antonio Pierce
Stars like Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams decided to take a stand open for the interim head coach. They stuck their necks out for Pierce, so the team doesn’t have to deal with another horrid “Josh McDaniels-like” coach. However, Richard is not the only one that the Raiders decided to interview. The Buffalo Bills’ veteran DC is on the list as well.

A little gander doesn’t hurt when you own one of the most revered teams in the NFL. It’s only fitting that the team owner weighs all his choices before concluding. So, they interviewed Leslie Frazier as well. Frazier has spent 24 seasons as a coach in the National Football League. After all these formalities, one would think that the Raiders might hire Pierce, but there are certain protocols that the team has to follow to ascend to a new level.
Antonio Pierce saved the Raiders
Mark Davis took early action to save his sinking team. The Raiders were 3-5 at the time when Pierce was hired as the interim head coach. It’s like Josh McDaniels was a bad cog in a well-oiled machine. After pluging in Antonio Pierce, the machine started working effortlessly. Though the Raiders are not in the playoffs, they finished second in the AFC West, just below the Chiefs. They could have easily ended up like the Carolina Panthers or the Washington Commanders if McDaniels wasn’t sacked.
