The NFL trade deadline is right around the corner, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a busy few weeks. Considering there are 10+ teams that think they have a chance at contending this season, we could see a plethora of trades go down as teams try to shore up holes in their roster.

On Thursday, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell proposed 13 different trades that could go down at the deadline. I chose six of my favorites, and today, we’re going to look at them and see how likely I think they are to happen.

Browns Get: 2027 sixth-round pick
I think this trade makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Los Angeles Chargers get the running back they desperately need, and don’t have to give up too much to get him. And the Cleveland Browns actually get something in return for Jerome Ford, who’s on a one-year deal.
With Omarion Hampton out for multiple weeks, the Chargers really need help at running back. Ford is an experienced, versatile player that can come in and help them win games while Hampton is out. And even once Hampton’s back, Ford can be a very strong backup alongside Kimani Vidal.
Jerome Ford
Rumored NFL trade target for RB needy teams…
Averaged well over 5.0+ yards per carry last season in lead back role.
Three-down skillset could give fantasy managers immediate RB2 value if traded to right place.
Possibly KC, LAC, AZ, etc.

The Browns obviously don’t have much of a need for Ford anymore. Quinshon Judkins has stepped in and has been everything they hoped for and more. He’s the clear RB1 in Cleveland, and Ford’s seen just eight carries in three games because of it. It just makes sense for them to get something for him, even if it’s just a sixth-round pick.
The Chargers are definitely in the market for a running back, and Ford is a very cheap, but experienced option that makes a ton of sense.

Giants trade for Jakobi Meyers from Raiders
Giants Get: Jakobi Meyers, 2026 fourth-round pick
Raiders Get: Deonte Banks, 2026 fifth-round pick
Jakobi Meyers has been trying to get out of Vegas for a while now, and it appears the Las Vegas Raiders may be able to grant his wish. With Malik Nabers out for the year, the New York Giants are looking for a wide receiver to help out their rookie quarterback. Meyers is someone who has been very productive, and likely wouldn’t cost too much for them to acquire.
In exchange for Meyers and a fourth-rounder, the Raiders would also get a player that benefits them. Deonte Banks is a very talented defensive back whose time in New York just hasn’t gone as planned. A change of scenery would benefit him a lot, so I think it’s worth a shot for the Raiders, who likely wouldn’t retain Meyers after this season anyways.
I’m told teams have made recent inquiries on #Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers within the last two weeks, per league sources.

It’s clear the Giants want to add a receiver, but I don’t know if they want to spend big on someone like Chris Olave or maybe even Garrett Wilson. This feels like a really good fit for Meyers. However, I don’t know if the Raiders want to trade him away, which makes the likelihood of this happening go down.

Lions trade for Trey Hendrickson from Bengals

Lions Get: Trey Hendrickson, 2026 fourth-round pick
Bengals Get: 2026 second-round pick
Now we get to the blockbuster. Could the Detroit Lions, who already have a star pass rusher in Aidan Hutchinson that they’ll have to pay this offseason, make a big move to acquire Trey Hendrickson, one of the best pass rushers in the league who’s playing on the franchise tag?
Yes, I believe they could.
Hendrickson has been frustrated with the Cincinnati Bengals, who are yet to give him a long-term deal. Obviously, we don’t know what’s happening at the negotiation table, but it seems like neither side wants to budge off their offer.
So, if the Bengals don’t want to lose Hendrickson this offseason, they could trade him. And the Lions would be very happy to acquire him for a second-round pick. They wouldn’t even have to pay him this offseason if they didn’t want to. They could get him as a (very expensive) one-year rental and let him walk if they don’t want to pay both him and Hutchinson. Or they could pay both and have the best edge rusher duo in football for years to come.
Either way, this is a trade that makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Bengals don’t have to worry about negotiations anymore and get a second-round pick. The Lions add an edge rusher to make their defense even more dangerous for their Super Bowl push.
Unfortunately, I don’t know how realistic this is. Do the Bengals really want to get rid of an All-Pro-level edge rusher? Especially when they have Joe Burrow and his weapons locked down now? We’ll see, but if anyone’s going to make a big move at the deadline, I hope it’s Detroit.

Steelers trade for Rashid Shaheed from Saints
Steelers Get: Rashid Shaheed, 2026 fifth-round pick
Saints Get: 2026 fourth-round pick
The Pittsburgh Steelers could really use some help at the wide receiver position. DK Metcalf has proven to be a very good addition, but Calvin Austin Jr. hasn’t taken that next step (and he’s injured now), and outside of those two, the rest of the Steelers WR core has a combined three catches.
Expect the Steelers to be in the market for a wideout to compliment Metcalf, and who better than New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed, who is one of the fastest players in the league. He’s a walking big play, and with a QB like Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball, the sky is the limit for the speedster.
I do think the Saints would want more than a fourth-round pick for Shaheed. They view him as a very important piece, and I don’t think they’d just give him away, especially not for a pick swap. He’s only got one year left on his deal, but they’re confident they can get a deal done if they don’t trade him away, so they hold the leverage.
I think there’s a somewhat decent chance he’s dealt, but I think it’d be for more than this proposed package.

Broncos trade for Taysom Hill from Saints

Broncos Get: Taysom Hill, 2026 seventh-round pick
Saints Get: 2026 sixth-round pick
As a Saints fan, this is a trade I can get behind (and quite frankly have been expecting for a while). It feels inevitable that Sean Payton makes a move to get Taysom Hill on the Denver Broncos, and with a completely new regime taking over in New Orleans, it feels like it might be time.
I love Taysom Hill as much as anybody. He was a great player for the Saints, but his time is coming to a close. He does still have at least another year or two in him, though, so I want to see him go somewhere he can make a run at the Super Bowl. I know Denver might not be there this year, but they’re close, and adding an offensive weapon like Hill wouldn’t hurt (especially not for a future sixth-rounder).
I honestly have no idea if this gets done or if either side is interested. I’d like Hill to remain in NOLA, but if he has to go anywhere, I hope it’s Denver.

Chargers trade for Evan Neal from Giants
Chargers Get: Evan Neal, 2028 seventh-round pick
Giants Get: 2028 sixth-round pick
This is another trade I really like. It’s a low-risk, high-reward move for the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Giants get to dump a former first-rounder who never panned out.
The Chargers already lost Rashawn Slater for the year, and now Joe Alt has missed time. They need help at the tackle position, even if it’s just to add some depth. Evan Neal was obviously very highly touted coming out of college, and talent like that doesn’t just disappear. We’ve seen guys leave the place they were drafted just to breakout in their new home, so there’s no reason Neal can’t do that in LA.
The Giants obviously have no intention on developing Neal any further, so a split up is best for both sides. The Giants get to collect an extra sixth-rounder in a couple of years and get Neal off their books. This breakup has been a long-time coming, and I think it finally gets done.
I believe Neal almost certainly gets moved at the deadline, and it wouldn’t shock me at all if the Chargers are the ones who come calling.
