Today, we’re going to go through every single Week 7 matchup and ask one big question before the weekend kicks off on Sunday afternoon.

Rams at Jaguars (London): Can the Jags’ offense find its rhythm again?

After the Jacksonville Jaguars took down the Kansas City Chiefs a couple weeks ago, it looked like they were legit contenders in the AFC. Then, they came out against the Seattle Seahawks and just didn’t look good. Their offense had no rhythm, and defensively they had no answer for Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

This week, the Jags will “host” the Los Angeles Rams in London. My big question for them is, can they get their offense rolling? The Seahawks have a really good defense, but so do the Rams. If Trevor Lawrence and Co. come out stagnant again, I’m going to be very concerned about them moving forward.

Once January rolls around, everyone has a stout defense, so if you can’t get anything going in the warm weather against defenses like Seattle and LA, you have no chance come the playoffs.

Saints at Bears: Can Chicago cement themselves as NFC playoff contenders?

The Chicago Bears are winners of three straight games, and are looking to cement themselves as NFC playoff contenders, but can they do it?

To do so, the Bears don’t need to just beat the New Orleans Saints, they need to beat them convincingly. The Saints may be 1-5, but they’re pesky and don’t go down without a fight. If the Bears want to make me believe they are real NFC playoff contenders, I want to see them beat down on a team they clearly outmatch at home. I’m talking 14-point victory-type of win.

Dolphins at Browns: Will we ever see the playbook open up for Dillon Gabriel?

article-image

Dillon Gabriel has done nothing to prove he isn’t an NFL-caliber quarterback. But he also hasn’t done anything to prove he’s worthy of being a starter.

Gabriel is playing very safe football. Part of that is his fault, but part of it is because the play calling hasn’t allowed him to take many shots. There’s no problem with playing safe, especially when you’re on a losing team, but Gabriel isn’t going to put the team on his back and win them a game. At least not right now.

I want to see Kevin Stefanski let him sling it. To be brutally honest, Stefanski might not have a job at the end of the year if the Cleveland Browns keep playing how they are, so why not let your rookie loose? I want to see what he can do with the full playbook. If he doesn’t have any juice, then bring in Shedeur.

Patriots at Titans: Will Brian Callahan’s firing give Tennessee new life?

It’s not uncommon for a team to gain some momentum after firing their head coach. Just look at UCLA this season. If you watch college football, you’ll know that team looks completely different than it did with DeShaun Foster at head coach. It isn’t necessarily because the quality of coaching has gone up, but the team is rallying behind their new leader.

Could we see that in Tennessee? I hope so, because right now, things aren’t going well. I don’t think they’re going to come up and upset the New England Patriots, but they could make this game surprisingly close.

Raiders at Chiefs: What does Rashee Rice’s return do for KC’s offense?

article-image

Rashee Rice is back, and I’m very excited to see what this Kansas City offense will look like with him in the lineup. Patrick Mahomes is playing at an MVP-level right now, and he’s been doing it without his best receiver. Now, with Rice back, I would be very scared if I were in the AFC.

The Kansas City Chiefs plan on giving Rice a full workload this week, so he should be out there for almost the entire game. I feel bad for the Las Vegas Raiders. They already had no shot in this game, but now, they really don’t.

Eagles at Vikings: Will the Eagles drop three in a row?

The Philadelphia Eagles are a mess right now. They’ve dropped two straight games they should’ve won, and now they get a Minnesota Vikings team that’s coming off a bye AND are playing at home.

The Eagles have really struggled offensively in both the run and pass game. The Vikings defense has been excellent this year, allowing the fifth-least points per game. Right now, there’s no reason to believe the Eagles can score 20+ against the Vikings, so if Minnesota can just hit that 20-point mark, there’s a good chance the Eagles are 4-3 by Monday.

Panthers at Jets: Why doesn’t Vegas believe in Carolina?

article-image

The Carolina Panthers (3-3) enter their game against the New York Jets (0-6) as 1.5-point favorites. That just makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The Panthers now hold wins over the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons, who are both pretty darn good. Who do the Jets hold wins over? Absolutely nobody.

I know the Panthers may be worse than their record says, but this is an offense that has a bit of momentum behind them. On the other side of the field, the Jets have no momentum behind them at all. I don’t understand why this spread is so small, but Vegas always knows something, so watch for the Jets to potentially upset Carolina on Sunday.

Giants at Broncos: Is the Giants’ run over?

The New York Giants had a fun little run, but I think it’s over. The took down the Chargers and Eagles, but they also lost to the Saints. They’re a hard team to figure out, but I think they’re Cinderella run is coming to a close.

This week, they face a Denver Broncos defense that is as good as they come. They’re going to put pressure on Jaxson Dart all day long, and they’re really going to struggle offensively. Then, after this game, they go to Philadelphia before hosting San Francisco. That’s a really, really rough three-game stretch. I know they just beat Philly, but I don’t see that happening twice.

It was fun while it lasted, but I wouldn’t be surprised if New York is 0-3 over their next three games.

Colts at Chargers: Game of the week?

article-image

I think this is going to be one of, if not the best game of the week. The Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers are very evenly matched on paper, so I expect this to be a very, very close game.

Justin Herbert is playing really well right now, even with all of the injuries on the offensive side of the ball. The Chargers’ defense is also playing really good football, allowing a tad over 20 points per game.

On the other side, Daniel Jones is having the best season of his career, and the Colts’ rushing attack is the best in football. They’re a little worse off defensively than the Chargers, but they’re more than capable of keeping up in a track meet.

I think we’re going to see a good amount of points in this game, which could have massive playoff implications down the line. This is my pick for game of the week, and maybe even game of the year.

Commanders at Cowboys: Does Dallas’ defense have any fight in them?

I think it’s safe to say the Dallas Cowboys have the worst defense in football. It’s nearly impossible to have the offense they have and be 2-3-1 through six weeks. It’s actually kind of incredible that they can be as bad as they are.

If the Cowboys’ defense has ANY fight in them, now is the time to prove it. They host their arch rivals, the Washington Commanders, on Sunday, and if they want to keep their playoff hopes a live, a win is very much needed. But their offense can’t do it alone, they need their defense to get at least a couple of stops, or else they stand no chance.

If Dallas’ defense comes out and puts up another stinker, I think I’m completely out on Dallas. They will have wasted an MVP-caliber season from Dak Prescott, all because they couldn’t field a slightly below average defense. They don’t even need to be great, they just can’t afford to be the worst in the league, and that’s what they are.

Packers at Cardinals: Can the Packers assert themselves as Super Bowl contenders?

article-image

Everyone wanted the Green Bay Packers to be Super Bowl contenders this season, but outside of their Week 1 victory over the Lions, I’m just not convinced they are. I see them in the top five of so many power rankings, but I just don’t understand why. Just look at their schedule thus far and tell me why I should be convinced they can contend for the Super Bowl.

MatchupScoreResult
Detroit Lions27-13Win
Washington Commanders27-18Win
Cleveland Browns13-10Loss
Dallas Cowboys40-40Tie
Cincinnati Bengals27-18Win

Since started 2-0, the Packers have lost to the Browns, tied the Cowboys and beat the Bengals in not-so-convincing fashion. This is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league, and the Packers have done nothing to convince me their Super Bowl contenders lately.

Now, if they can come out and whoop up on the Arizona Cardinals, then maybe I’ll consider them as Super Bowl contenders. I need them to win convincingly, though. No 27-18 with a last minute field goal to make it seem better than it was. I’m talking 35-7 domination of a bad team.

Falcons at 49ers: Can Bijan lead the Falcons to another improbable victory?

Nobody expected the Atlanta Falcons to beat the Buffalo Bills last week, and they did. A large part of that was due to Bijan Robinson’s incredible performance, so my question for this game is, can he do it again against a very good San Francisco 49ers team?

Everyone knows the Falcons’ offense runs through Robinson, but nobody can stop him. He’s been one of the most explosive playmakers in the entire league this season, and if the Falcons want to win, they’ll need him to have another big game. Can he take advantage of a banged up 49ers team, or will Robert Saleh scheme up a way to stop him?

Buccaneers at Lions: Is this a NFC Championship preview?

article-image

As of today, I think this could be a preview of the NFC Championship game. Some people are down on the Detroit Lions after their loss to the Chiefs, but they still have one of the best offenses in the league, and a defense that’s good enough to create turnovers and get their opponents off the field.

Everyone’s high on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, and rightfully so. They’re playing like the best team in football, and that’s with a ton of injuries on the offensive side of the ball. When they’re 100 percent, they might be THE best offense in the league.

I think the Lions win this game at home. The Bucs are just too banged up at receiver and running back right now, but I hope we end up seeing this game twice this year, because it would be an electric NFC Championship game.

Texans at Seahawks: How will Sam Darnold perform against one of the best defenses in football

The Houston Texans have one of the best defenses in football. They’ve good at pretty much every single level, so I’m very interested to see how Sam Darnold performs against his stiffest test of the year.

The Seahawks don’t have much of a run game to speak of, so it’s going to come down to how well Darnold plays. If he lets the Texans’ pass rush get to him, it’s going to be a long day at the office. Luckily, he has one of the best receivers in the league in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who can get open against anyone. And they proved last week they don’t need much contribution from others to have a big game.
