Following Steelers Captain’s Footsteps, Russell Wilson Meets UPMC Children to Surprise “Some of His Newest Fans”

Despite the curveball that hit Russell Wilson’s career, the 1x Super Bowl champ hasn’t let negativity surround him. In fact, his resilience has shone more than ever and the recent event reflects a glimpse of the same. Battling through a tough season, moving teams, and then acquiring a modest contract, all seem to have tested the veteran QB. But, he has made sure to communicate a message of optimism.
Following this attitue and the former Steelers’ captain Cam Heyward’s footsteps, Wilson went to meet some of his younger fans. He pulled up to UPMC Children’s Hospital to spend time with the kids and make their day. The QB, along with the hospital had some heartwarming photos to share on Instagram.
UPMC’s Instagram account uploaded a post. The captionread, “New Steelers QB Russell Wilson dropped by UPMC Children’s today to meet some of his newest fans. Thanks for stopping in, we can’t wait to see you this fall in black and gold. Welcome to Pittsburgh! @dangerusswilson @childrenspgh @steelers @steelerscr”

The photos showed Russell Wilson meeting the sick children. One of the photos captured the QB signing merchandise and giving it to the young fans. The comment section appeared even more wholesome, pointing out Wilson’s affinity for being consistent at doing social work

A picture in the post showcased the Steelers QB taking pictures with a kid possibly named Caleb. He held “The Terrible Towel” and Russ signed it with “Caleb, Dream Big.” Another photo in the slide revealed Wilson taking a picture with a small girl who has a Sonic plushie on her.
There were some bigger kids in the hospital as well. Although there was no hint of any signed merchandise on them, one of the kids seemed to be genuinely engrossed in a conversation with the QB. These heartwarming moments, again, remind us of the Steelers’ Cam Heyward, who goes out of his way to help kids. He even got the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award recently.

About two weeks ago, the Steelers DT visited the same hospital and there was a huge line of people to welcome him. UPMC’s post on Instagram said, “On Friday, defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cam Heyward, surprised Porter at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Cam joined the celebration as Porter rang the bell to signify the end of his chemo treatments. @camhey97 @childrenspgh @steelers”

Cameron met with a kid named Porter, who officially ended the course of his chemotherapy and announced it by ringing the bell in the hospital. It really looked like a joyous occasion between the two as both had huge smiles on their faces. One photo showcased the duo flexing their biceps on the camera. Needless to say, the Steelers are shining off the court with their selfless good deeds and fans are definitely appreciating it.
