Jacoby Jones’ journey from Lane College to NFL

Having been drafted (73rd overall) by the Texans in the 2007 draft, Jones quickly began garnering attention with his touchdowns and return kicks. A 2012 fumble against the Baltimore team in the playoffs was a pretty low moment for the wideout, but Jones had a knack for bouncing back in a big way. That same year, he signed with Baltimore, the very team he fumbled against.

With two record-breaking plays in the 2012 season (tying the record for the longest-ever kick return), Jones took on the Cowboys with a 108-yard kickoff return. Later that season, he became the first-ever player to return two kickoffs (105 yards) against the Niners in a single season.

But the 40-year-old wasn’t just a return pro. In the AFC Divisional Playoffs against the Broncos, Jones snagged a 70-yard TD pass, etching his name in the ‘Mile High Miracle.’ With another highlight-reel moment (a 108-yard kickoff return), he capped off his season, marking the longest play in Super Bowl history to date.

While Jacoby Jones’ football career may not have been the longest, his impact was undeniable. Rest in peace, Jones. You’ll be missed.
