The exact reason that led to the violent incident is not known, but it may have stemmed from a dispute because of the reported love triangle. Witnesses spotted a man and a woman fleeing the scene in a black SUV. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing with more details expected soon.

Not much is known about what he does for a living since the Seahawks cut him in 2011, but his Facebook profile mentions that he is a self-employed entrepreneur. What is known is that this wasn’t his first rodeo with danger.

In January 2015, he was reportedly involved in two different residential burglaries in Lincoln, Nebraska, in a span of less than a month.

During the trial, Thenarse pleaded no contest and was convicted of a felony burglary charge after prosecutors dismissed a second charge related to another break-in. At just 27 years old, he received a sentence of three to six years in prison.

Before his legal troubles, the 37-year-old had a notable collegiate career that led him to the NFL.

Rickey Thenarse was picked by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011

The two-way player at running back and defensive back finished his schooling at the David Starr Jordan Senior High, LA. As a four-star recruit, he received an opportunity to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He had 10 starts in 51 games in five seasons from 2006 to 2010.

He made an immediate impact as a freshman and sophomore, earning special team MVP honors both years, and finished his five-year career with 106 tackles and 2 sacks.

He then impacted the defense and became a starter. But in 2009, he suffered a knee injury, forcing him to miss out on the majority of the season. Rickey then returned the following year and played in 10 games, starting five of them.

He won multiple collegiate honors, including the Tom Novak Award, which is presented “by media members and given to the player who has had a successful Cornhusker career while overcoming odds and adversity,” and the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll in his final season (2010).

After going undrafted in the 2011 draft, Rickey signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent and played in three preseason games. However, he found himself on the chopping block after the team released him during the final roster cuts, ending his NFL career.
