Revelations, when packed and parcelled in a neat little bow, always look nice. But when they are thrown at you one after the other by two dynamite personalities, it just kind of hits differently. And that’s the story of Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson’s Calm Down Podcast. Real conversations that range from football to their daily life. Starting way back in 2021, it started as a way for the two Fox sportscasters to show a “different side” to themselves. And since then, it has snowballed into popularity as Erin and Charissa keep giving us glimpses into their lives that are not only entertaining but also relatable.
Last week’s Calm Down Podcast addition has been a roller coaster ride. From Charissa slamming down the rumors about her Fox career, to sharing how she doesn’t like shoes in the house. Erin joined in too, with her morning routine, the songs her son Mack likes to listen to while she has a sensory overload. And even before the already iconic ‘Alexa, Shut the F—- Up!’ episode, there was another one that was basically a revelation galore. We’re talking about episode 323: Pregame – A Perspiration Situation
As per an Instagram reel added to their page, there’s another moment from the podcast that had us laughing and shaking our heads. In the episode’s popular section, “Anonymous” where Erin and Charissa discuss the audience’s anonymous messages, Charissa’s personal reveal had us laughing and nodding in agreement. Erin read out the question: “I blew it with a guy in my class. What do I do now? It’s so awkward.” While Erin asked for more details, Charissa dropped the bombshell: “Yeah, well, because if it’s anything like me, when I blew out the bathroom after my colonoscopy with the guy in class, well, then you just leave the school. That’s what I did. I totally left the school.” Okay. So that’s the story of how Charissa Thompson changed schools because of a bathroom incident and a guy in her class. Some of us might relate to this very strongly.

While most of us will laugh this off, bathroom accidents, especially in schools, are no joke. Not only is it embarrassing, but it also makes you the subject of constant ridicule. School kids can be very mean in incidents like this. Charissa further added, “I say Grossmont Community College. I’m gross. I’m out of here. I’m going to Mesa. Depends on the situation. Mine was obviously extreme.” She then went on to share some helpful advice for the anonymous person, and then capped it all off with, “If it’s so bad, then you gotta transfer schools. You gotta leave. You’re out.” This isn’t the first time Erin and Charissa have opened up about relationships and how to deal with them. The two often discuss their partners and how difficult it is to manage relationships, marriage, and a family when you’re a popular sports personality.

Charissa and Erin on family and relationships
Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews have been navigating the sports media world for decades now. And through it all, they have also balanced relationships, marriage, and families. In one particular instance, Charissa had opened up about how she had “married the wrong person” and went to give some sage advice for people navigating relationships. “Don’t be in a rush, – I thought that really early on, professionally was going to be great for me because then I wasn’t distracted and I had this, you know, constant at home, and I married the wrong person. Then later, I married the wrong person again.” Her advice? “I would let it happen naturally and date when it worked around my schedule because I was making and continued to make, at times, my job more of a priority,” she said, highlighting how she had trouble balancing her work and love life.

Charissa Thompson's bathroom incident—would you switch schools over an embarrassing moment like that?
Have an interesting take?
And Erin? She has been a vocal supporter and guide for women who go through IVF struggles. She also admitted on one occasion that her husband had reservations about Erin being “so public” about her journey. She had insisted that she needed to speak up so other women didn’t have to go through her struggles alone. On another occasion, she had emphasised how they deal with this, “You have to be really honest with each other – You have to give each other a break. You have to have patience. – There’s nothing about the infertility journey that I would say is great, except your end product. When you are able to have the baby and you’re like, ‘Wow, you were worth it.'” Erin has also battled cervical cancer in the past, and her strength and patience through all of this are awe-inspiring.
