Jackson has been a sensation ever since turning pro in 2018. However, RG3 talks about the lack of challenge to the QB in the present system at the Ravens! Could this be the reason for not winning championships?

RG3 was never the mentor at the Ravens

In the year 2018, the Ravens had access to 3 top quality QBs. Veteran Joe Flacco and the rookie Lamar Jackson, in the same year, RG3 was also brought in from the Washington team. “They brought me in to be the veteran in case something happened to Joe. But also to be there to be a mentor for Lamar”, said RG3 on the ‘Punch Line with Marlon’ podcast.

“I took my job seriously… know this Lamar’s his own man. He doesn’t want anyone to Big Brother him”, said RG3 on the podcast. The former Heisman Trophy winner (2011) also talked about his approach to mentoring Jackson, the Heisman Trophy winner (2016).

“I didn’t try to Big Brother him. I just challenged him every day. That was my approach”, said the 34-year-old former QB, explaining his special technique to help Lamar. But with the likes of Flacco and RG3 gone from the roster of the Ravens, is Jackson missing the challenge on the training field? It might seem like the QB has hit somewhat of a stagnancy because of the lack of said challenge.

Lamar Jackson has overtaken everyone else

Jackson is one of the most successful QBs of our era. He’s a game-changer through and through with multi-faceted skills. However, the two-time NFL MVP is yet to claim the AFC Championship or the Super Bowl. Under his leadership, the Ravens have crashed out in the playoffs 5 times!

“I do think that some of that was missing over the past couple of years”, said RG3 about the lack of challenge for the 27-year-old Jackson. Since Lamar Jackson is now the eldest guy on the roster of the Ravens in the QB position, RG3 wonders if he misses the challenge of the old days on the training field.
