The New York Giants head coach, Brian Daboll, didn’t hide behind excuses after the Big Blue lost to the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. He said the Giants got outplayed, flat-out beaten in every phase.

The 38-20 loss is a tough blow to Daboll, as his team sits at 2-6 now. But the real storm came from what happened under the scrum of the infamous tush push. What followed became the breaking point for Daboll’s frustration with how his team kept getting officiated.
When asked about the refs’ decisions, he said, “I’m not going to comment on what I think about the officials.”

But everyone saw what happened. Kayvon Thibodeaux ripped the ball from Jalen Hurts; refs killed it. Forward progress, they said. Giants fans didn’t buy it. Neither did Thibodeaux.

“That’s some bulls–t,” the linebacker said. Daboll refused to comment on it. “I’m not going to comment on what I think about the officials,” the coach said. Hard to argue. The whistle blew after the recovery, the replay screamed fumble, but the officials doubled down.
“We ruled forward progress on the play for a first down. New York had challenged the play. I explained to them that this was ruled forward progress. There was no challenge on the play,” the Refs clarified.
A few plays later, the Eagles scored. If there was any chance to seize momentum, it evaporated right there, buried under the same play the NFL voted to ban in the offseason. What made it sting more was how familiar it all felt.
Philadelphia leaned on the tush push like clockwork, and the Giants collapsed at every shove. Add 277 rushing yards allowed, five sacks given up, and Barkley bulldozing through open lanes, safe to say: it was ugly football. And on top of that? The injury pile-up is just making it worse.

Brian Daboll delivers tough Skattebo update
If the officiating didn’t crush the Giants, the Cam Skattebo injury did. The rookie running back injured his ankle in the second quarter. His teammates waved frantically for help as the rookie lay motionless.
He’d been their energy guy; one of the few consistent sparks in a messy season. Daboll addressed it postgame. “Feel absolutely terrible for the young man,” he said.
Terrible for Skatt? Absolutely. But for the Giants? One more blow in a year already bruised. Without him, the offense looked flat, predictable, and unsure. The RB has racked up 410 rushing yards and 207 receiving yards, and 7 TDs in just eight games.
With Malik Nabers already out, the Giants are now missing two of their top playmakers. Daboll knows it’s a long road ahead. But if Sunday’s meltdown showed anything, it’s this: expect the Giants to push hard for a tush push ban the next chance they get.
