For an athlete whose career is built on explosive movement, being forced into stillness can be the ultimate test. For Giants RB Cam Skattebo, it has also become an unexpected opportunity. Known for his trademark touchdown backflips, Skattebo is now mastering a different kind of movement: the slow, steady process of recovery.

“Y’all want to see? Update check. I can even move my toes and s***,” Skattebo said in a video on X. “I could get pretty far, honestly, if I just lean forward. I could almost make it touch the ground. I’m getting better every day.”
With his explosive style, many hope he’ll be back doing that touchdown backflip sooner rather than later. But how did the RB injure himself?

Skattebo’s gruesome injury occurred in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. With 8:10 left in the second quarter, QB Jaxson Dart aimed a pass at Cam. But the RB was tackled by the Eagles’ Zack Baun. As he hit the ground, Skattebo’s right ankle got dislocated.
The immediate aftermath was grim, as teammates gathered around the injured rookie and the offense stalled, ultimately leading to a 38-20 loss to the Eagles.

His presence was a boost to NY as the RB rushed for 410 yards, five rushing and two receiving touchdowns in eight games. But Skattebo’s injury feels like a thing from the past.
The team has been through some rough changes since then. QB Dart suffered a concussion in week 10 against the Broncos, and the coaching woes persisted. As interim coach, Mike Kafka is set for his first game; NY’s roster looks bruised.

“The Giants officially ruled out QB Jaxson Dart (concussion), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring), and OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) for Sunday’s game vs. Green Bay,” Tom Pelissero reported on X.
But for Skattebo, the injury hasn’t dampened his spirit, as he continues to build an active presence on social media. Surprisingly, Cam is not the only NFL player to use his rehab time wisely.
Recently, 49ers’ Fred Warner announced a move outside the NFL, launching a new talk series called Real Ones after his season-ending injury. The series will bring the best players around the league to give insights into what goes on behind the scenes.

Skattebo is turning to YouTube to expand his career
Cam Skattebo is expanding his digital platform after gaining 51.8K followers on his Twitch channel, “Sk4tpack.” He has now moved to YouTube. Cam’s father announced the update on X.

“Lock in for more longform content and short comedy,” Leo Skattebo posted.
He was referring to the content that Cam posted recently on his Twitch account. These days, Cam has been “just chatting” and playing World of Warcraft. The RB streams on his channel with an uplifting and funny approach that is not very different from what is seen on the field.
Skattebo is using the platform to engage with fans and stay connected to the game. His content mixes straightforward updates with lighter moments, giving viewers a clear look at his recovery and the challenges players face during injury. It’s a strategic move that strengthens his connection with fans by bringing them directly into his post-injury journey.
