“Dear Cleveland. I’m so happy and grateful for everything we experienced together this past year.” A tribute message that Jameis Winston wrote for the Browns before his departure from the team was supposed to be simple and emotional. It was meant to bid goodbye to the avid fandom as the quarterback stepped into a new chapter of his career. Only it wasn’t. Indeed, one part of the message quickly took over social media and sparked a random debate to get the QB cut from the roster. What did he say?
Winston’s long message included special moments from games and his time with the Browns. Moreover, the most special one was his clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers. “One moment I’ll never forget, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football in what turned out to be the most iconic snow game in NFL history. The energy, the emotion, the unity, we all felt it. That night was Cleveland at its finest,” Winston said. If anything, the message only shows Winston’s dedication to the team.
Now, the fans are exceptional. Some netizens and fans noticed this particular part of his message. The reason is that the Steelers’ QB was Russell Wilson. Indeed, Winston, who is now with the Giants, is competing with Wilson for the starting job. And this caused a stir across social media. Many demanded that the Giants cut the player. Now, Chris Simms from NBC Sports had a similar claim and said that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants took the QB out.

“Jaxson Dart will be the backup to start the year for me when they start the regular season. The big question is, will Jameis Winston be there? Right. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s not there. They just have Tommy Devito as the practice squad third-string guy. That’s kind of how I could see this,” Simms said, without mincing his words.
Well, Winston’s message also irked WFAN’s Shaun Morash. He even went as far as to call the player “cancer.” And he demanded that the player be cut from the roster. “This guy is in an unintentional cancer. Cut him today. He’s not better than Russell Wilson, the team should be taking the quarterback in the draft, and Tommy DeVito still exists. Why is he here? He’s here to throw interceptions and pick-sixes? I’m glad everybody thinks the Giants can be the chuckle-hut. I’m tired of being a joke, and Jameis Winston is causing this team to be more of a [expletive] joke,” Morash said.
The former Browns starter passed for 2,121 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season with the franchise. He believes that he can become the starter for the team. However, doubt remains over the player as Stugotz and Simms dissect over who will get the starting QB role. Simms named the Giants’ rookie as one of the potential starters.

Does Jaxson Dart’s preseason debut make a good case?
If not a strong case, the Giants’ rookie Jaxson Dart has surely caught the fans’ attention. At the preseason debut, he was quite impressive in his game, helping New York to a 34-25 win over the Bills in Buffalo. He went 12-of-19 for 159 yards and a touchdown, guiding the Giants to three straight scoring drives in the second quarter of Saturday’s 34-25 preseason win over the Bills in Buffalo.

Is Jameis Winston a liability for the Giants, or does he deserve another shot at QB?

“I just know Russell Wilson won’t be the starting quarterback for the Giants by week seven,” Stugotz said. “I totally agree with you. Totally. And if Jackson Dart, I mean, we know Russell Wilson, the Giants have been pretty firm that Russell Wilson is going to start the year, but man, the fans, they want to see Jackson Dart. he continues to play like he did the other day and showing he can run the offense and hit people when they’re open,” Simms said.
Head coach Brian Daboll was impressed and satisfied that the rookie was able to meet the expectations. “Just about what I thought he would do. Efficient, effective, aggressive, confident in the pocket. Some stuff we can work on, but he’s doing good,” Daboll said.

Looking to strengthen his case as Wilson’s top backup, Dart delivered a bold 29-yard touchdown to Lil’Jordan Humphrey for the Giants’ opening score. Despite Bills defensive tackle T.J. Sanders around him, he stayed in the pocket, taking the hit just after delivering the ball. But he was even faster to get up and celebrate his first NFL score. Winston came in the second half and had 7 of 11 passes for 62 yards and a TD. On the other hand, Tommy DeVito had 10-of-14 passing for 73 yards and a TD during the fourth quarter.
