It’s Jaxson Dart‘s world at the New York Giants, and Russell Wilson is likely not going to be a part of it. According to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, Russell Wilson is one of the candidates who could be available for trade before the November 4 deadline.

Russell Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Giants this offseason worth $10.5 million. That deal included an $8 million signing bonus, which means if they trade Wilson before the trade deadline on Tuesday, November 4, his new team would only pay part of his base salary.

So far this season, he has completed 66 of 112 passes (58.9%) for 786 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions. His QBR is just 31.9, which ranks 31st in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Dart has been phenomenal, completing 56 of 85 passes (65.9%) for 508 yards and 6 total touchdowns over the last three games. In fact, in each of those games, the rookie led his team to a touchdown in their opening possession, joining Patrick Mahomes as the only QBs to do so since at least 1991.

Trade rumors have linked Wilson to teams needing a veteran quarterback. The Las Vegas Raiders are seen as the most likely landing spot. Geno Smith has struggled for Las Vegas, posting a 65.0% completion rate for 1,176 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions through five games, with a QBR of just 38.8.

Now Russell’s numbers are worse, but a trade to the Raiders will see him reunite with head coach Pete Carroll, with whom he worked during his Seattle days. And then there is the other reason: he is cheap.

“The primary reason Wilson might draw interest? He’s cheap,” argued Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. “With a base salary of just $2 million, he would be a budget alternative for any team currently getting poor quarterback play or in need of a veteran mentor.”

Knox also had the Cleveland Browns as the other team likely to go for Wilson. But they seem to be happy with their young QB room. At least for now.

However, the Giants could bring in another player once the trade window opens up.

Brian Daboll is looking for a receiver

Wide receiver Malik Nabers is set to miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Nabers was off to a strong start this season, catching 18 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. But now, Brian Daboll might have to look into trade options. Here are three options he could explore, according to Nick Falato of SBNation.

One potential trade option is New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Head coach Brian Daboll already knows Diggs from their time together in Buffalo, which would make the transition easier. He has caught 19 of 22 passes for 213 yards this season, showing good recovery from his ACL injury last year. However, his three-year, $64.5 million contract makes this trade difficult to pull off.

Another possible target is the Raiders’ Jakobi Meyers, who reportedly asked for a trade earlier this season and has been playing a major role in the Raiders’ offense, recording 25 receptions for 290 yards. He’s in the final year of a three-year, $33 million contract, and the Giants could look to re-sign him.

Another realistic and cheaper target could be Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. Shaheed broke out in 2023 and was on track for another big year in 2024 before a knee injury. This season, he has caught 22 of 30 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Spencer Rattler. He’s affordable, with a $4.2 million base salary, and is in the final year of his rookie contract.

The Giants have a big decision to make. Losing Malik Nabers leaves a huge gap in their offense, and the team can’t afford to waste time.
