Jaxson Dart stepped into the spotlight for the New York Giants in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Dart was drafted twenty-fifth overall earlier this year, following a Giants offseason that brought in veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston for added depth at the position. Brian Daboll, who initially trusted Wilson as the starter and counted on his experience, made the bold move to change starting quarterbacks after the team began the season with three straight losses.

During his Wednesday media session, Dart took a gentle jab at Wilson’s age. Calling him an “unc” while talking about sharing the QB room with the 36-year-old veteran and Winston.
“I kind of see it as I’ve got two big brothers in the room. Russ might reach a little bit of unc status a little bit. But they’re both my big brothers out there.”

Wilson didn’t let the comment slide unnoticed. The ten-time Pro Bowler reposted a Sports Illustrated reel of Dart’s interview on his Instagram story, tagging the Giants quarterback with a laughing emoji. He added the caption, “Wait till u come to the Wilson & Winston Family Reunions.” The story also featured Wilson addressing Dart as his “Young Nephew!”

As for Dart and Winston’s relationship, the chemistry has clearly been positive. After the Giants’ 21-18 win over the Chargers, where Dart threw for 111 yards and rushed for 54 yards, Winston celebrated on his social media with a photo of the two enjoying their success. The post was simply captioned “W.”

Despite being a rookie, after Week 6, with a win against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Eagles with a 34-17 score, Dart became the third quarterback in the Super Bowl era to rush for at least 50 yards in each of his first three starts. He joined Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts in that exclusive company.
Dart has shown notable progress throughout the season. As of Week 8, he has thrown for a total of 984 yards, eight passing touchdowns, and four rushing touchdowns.
The Giants’ offense, however, has struggled with consistency, such as in the recent 38-20 loss to Philadelphia. In the game, the Giants converted just four of 12 third downs and suffered key injuries. This included running back Cam Skattebo’s season-ending dislocated ankle.

Jaxson Dart gets emotional after Cam Skattebo’s injury
The injury to Cam Skattebo has dealt a heavy blow to the Giants, especially hitting home for Jaxson Dart. Dart showed visible distress after witnessing his teammate’s injury on the field.
Dart admitted, “Yeah, I was devastated. That’s my boy, so seeing him go down and reacting to what happened—it sucks. It’s the worst part of this game.”
The Giants had been counting on a strong rookie trio to shape their offense, including Dart, Skattebo, and Malik Nabers. Unfortunately, Nabers tore his ACL in Dart’s first start, and now Skattebo is left with a season-ending ankle injury. This leaves Dart as the only one active from that group.
Despite these setbacks, Dart remains confident, stating, “I have overwhelming confidence in all the guys that step on the field with me,” showing steady belief within the locker room.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been consistently impressed with Dart since the draft process, saying, “I don’t know. I’ve liked everything about Dart since we got him,” underscoring the trust he places in the young quarterback even amid challenges.
With Daboll’s clear faith in Dart and the team’s determination to overcome injuries, the question remains: Can Jaxson Dart spark a turnaround in the remaining games?
