While the 2025-26 season didn’t work out well for Russell Wilson, the Giants quarterback still has Super Bowl aspirations. Initially signed on a one-year deal, he saw limited game time. With free agency still a few weeks away, the 37-year-old was asked about what has been his proudest memory in the NFL.

“Winning the Super Bowl, I think, was definitely pretty cool. To win it here in New York, just pretty cool to hold that trophy. I’m striving to find a way to win another one,” Wilson said during an appearance on the Good Inside podcast.

Wilson responded by naming his Super Bowl XLVIII victory in New York with the Seattle Seahawks, before reiterating his desire to win another Lombardi Trophy before hanging up his boots.

This isn’t the first time Wilson revealed his aspiration of returning to a playing role and pushing for a Lombardi Trophy. Responding to a comment stating his play from 2017 to 2020 would have made him the NFL’s top quarterback in 2025 on X, the QB’s reply was all but cryptic.

“Man… I gotta get back to Ballin’ & being Me,” Wilson wrote. “Back to my First 10. It’s time. Time to go Dark.”

For the 37-year-old, his Super Bowl win from 2014 still remains the most cherished moment of his career as he managed to establish himself as one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks with that victory. In that 2013-14 season, Wilson had a passer rating of 101.2 with 3,357 yards and 26 touchdowns in 16 games in 2013 before securing his second Pro Bowl appearance and his first championship.

He continued this stellar form over the next half a decade, leading Seattle to another Super Bowl appearance while emerging as one of the best signal-callers in the league.

However, things took a drastic turn after he left the Seahawks in a trade where the Denver Broncos gave up five draft picks and three players in order to acquire Wilson in March 2022 and handed him a five-year, $242.6m contract.

But Russell Wilson failed to live up to the billing as his passing touchdowns went down from 25 to 16. Eventually, he was released by the franchise in just two years while taking a dead cap hit of $85m.

Since then, Dangeruss has been a journeyman with stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers before moving to the Giants. In New York, the 37-year-old has had limited playing time since beginning the season with the first three games before being benched for rookie Jaxson Dart. Later in the season, after Dart’s injury, the team opted to start Jameis Winston instead.

While things haven’t gone according to plan for the 37-year-old, the veteran quarterback still wants to compete at the highest level, as he announced a drastic move to improve his chances when the free agency period starts this March.

Russell Wilson changes agents ahead of free agency

After a career-low 831 yards and 3 passing touchdowns (his first-ever single-digit TD score) in 2025, Russell Wilson has confirmed a major personnel decision ahead of the 2026 NFL free agency. The 37-year-old switched to Athletes First superagent David Mulugheta, according to NFLPA records.

Wilson previously worked with longtime agent Mark Rodgers since entering the league in 2012.  Mulugheta represents several high-profile pass-throwers, including Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson, the Houston Texans’ C.J. Stroud, and the New York Jets’ Justin Fields, among a host of other top players around the league.

Russell Wilson enters 2026 NFL free agency with a new superagent in his corner and an undiminished hunger for another Super Bowl ring. Whether any team will give the 37-year-old veteran that opportunity remains to be seen.
