A hectic schedule has never stopped New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson from showing up for people in need. Through his Why Not You Foundation, he’s touched countless lives. Even as the 36-year-old continues to add new milestones in his NFL journey, he remains an inspiration for young athletes and dreamers everywhere. This week, his unwavering commitment to excellence on and off the field earned him a special honor from his hometown—a well-deserved recognition of his lasting impact and leadership.

Wilson just shared a snap of the letter that he received from the Virginia’s Capital Mayor, Danny TK Avula. He is recognised as the “National Black Players Coalition Quarterback of the Century” for his contributions on and off the field. The letter further praised his charity work through out his career.
“Grateful! Richmond Va! Hometown,” he captioned the post.

Both Wilson and his wife, Ciara, have worked closely to help people and give back to the community. And on the field, the 2011 Big Ten Quarterback of the Year has achieved remarkable feats. He led the Seattle Seahawks to their first Super Bowl title in 2014 and was named to the Pro Bowl nine times during his tenure in Seattle.
The following year, he led the NFL in passer rating. He was also named NFC Offensive Player of the Month multiple times throughout his career. Off the field, Wilson often makes it a point to visit hospitals in the cities he plays for, including a recent visit to the Mount Sinai Kravis Pediatrics Hospital before the Giants’ Week 1 game.

While his performance for the Giants may have been impacted by losing the starting job to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, he remains confident and ready whenever the team needs him.
“I’ll be ready to go when I need to get back in there and everything else. Staying prepared,” Wilson said. “You never know what happens in this league and everything else. So I’m confident in the moment and all that.“
After signing a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants this offseason, where he was initially declared the starting quarterback, Wilson is now the backup to Dart, ahead of veteran Jameis Winston.

That shows Wilson’s dedication to the sport and the team.
Coach Brian Daboll has also been confident about the player. “He’s our backup quarterback,” Daboll said. While that likely hasn’t removed the veteran from the Hall of Fame conversational, back-to back underwhelming performances such as the incomplete play against the Philadelphia Eagles by the QB has lowered the spirits.
Even his former team’s coach had seemingly taken a shot at the player.
Sean Payton had a cryptic message while praising Jaxson Dart
The Denver Broncos indeed walked away with a 33-32 win over the Giants. However, the Giants rookie didn’t make things easy for coach Sean Payton’s squad.
Despite facing the Broncos’ formidable defense, Dart was confident in his throws, and thanks to that, the Giants were almost close to a win in the fourth quarter. But things didn’t turn as he had hoped.
Dart completed 283 passing yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and one rushing touchdown. Unsurprisingly, he was a trouble for the Broncos. So, after the game, the Denver coach didn’t hesitate to share that he wished that the team didn’t change their QB until they faced the Broncos.
“I have a ton of respect for that organization,” Payton shared. “I spent four of my early years there coordinating, Super Bowl, first game in this stadium, before 9/11. I’m close with the Mara and Tisch families. And they found a little spark with that quarterback. I was talking to John Mara not too long ago and I said we were hoping that that change would have happened long long after our game.”
Did he indicate that the Broncos may have won the game easily had the Giants started Wilson? Payton had coached Wilson before during his short stint. Even if it was a brief time, the coach knows the player.
While there can be several questions, the Giants already seem to know the answers for now, with Dart as starter and Wilson as backup.
