This NFL season has seen a surge in injuries. With only half the season gone, nearly every team has at least five key players sidelined. Week 8 brings a tough injury toll for both the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of their rematch.

Star wide receiver A.J. Brown is among seven Eagles players currently sidelined for the Sunday game, while the Giants face two key absences of their own. With playoff hopes on the line, depth and recovery could decide the outcome.

The Giants currently hold a 2-5 record, with one of their wins coming against the Eagles earlier this month. Their most recent game was a nail-biter against the Denver Broncos, who edged out a 33-32 victory. The Eagles, meanwhile, have won five of their last seven games. With home-field advantage on their side today, let’s take a look at how injuries might impact both teams.

While the Giants have a few injured stars, it is the Eagles who seem to be in deep trouble, with six players currently ruled out of the game and a few who are recovering from their injuries.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown has had a good season so far. He was a key player in all seven games with a total of 395 passing yards and three touchdowns. But unfortunately, he will have to sit out this week’s game due to a hamstring injury.

Another WR, Darius Cooper, who was very active during the practice sessions, also has a shoulder injury. His status for today’s game is questionable. The offensive line Cam Jurgens is out with a knee injury. He has played two games this season but has yet to acquire any stats.

In the Eagles’ defense team, cornerbacks Jakorian Bennett and Adoree’ Jackson have been ruled out. Bennett tore his pectoral muscle in week 3, while Jackson has a concussion. Jackson was a part of six games this season and has a total of 23 tackles.

Bennett took part in three games and acquired six tackles in total. Offensive linebacker Azeez Ojulari suffered a hamstring injury during the game against the Minnesota Vikings and is still recovering; thus will not be a part of the Week 8 game. Brandon Graham, who came out of retirement this season, will also not be a part of the Week 8 game as he isn’t ready to return to action yet.

Giants face uncertainty with Burns, Adebo, and more

The Giants aren’t entirely spared either. While their injury list isn’t as long, a few key players remain uncertain for Week 8, and their absence could still impact the team’s momentum.

Cornerback Paulson Adebo is out with his knee injury that he suffered during the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos. Prior to his injury, Adebo had played all seven games this season and had a total of 48 tackles.

Chauncey Golston, defensive lineman for the Giants, is officially ruled out for the Week 8 game due to a neck injury. He will not be traveling with the team to Philadelphia, marking his second consecutive game missed this season because of this injury.

Outside linebacker Brian Burns’ return still hangs in the balance as he only had limited participation in practice. He injured his hip during the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite the injury, the 27-year-old continued to play all seven games this season. He has recorded 34 tackles and leads the team with nine sacks. According to a report from Insider Ian Rapoport, Burns shared that he expects to play in Week 8. The participation of kicker Graham Gano, defensive lineman D.J. Davidson, and safety Jevon Holland (26 total tackles) also remains doubtful for the game.

Who’s returning for Eagles vs. Giants in Week 8?

While the current injury list might be a nightmare for the Eagles, a few players could be returning in Week 8. One such star is tight end Dallas Goedert, who injured his calf earlier this season.

In the six games he played, Goedert recorded 27 receptions, 261 yards, and five touchdowns. Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo (three sacks and 17 tackles) also participated fully in practice sessions and could be a starter for the game against the Giants.

As for the Giants, quarterback Jaxon Dart has recovered from his ankle injury and could be the starting QB this week. He has recorded 791 passing yards, 178 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and seven passing touchdowns.

The Eagles are averaging 24.3 points and 299.6 yards per game this season, placing them mid-league in scoring. Over the past three games, their scoring dipped to 20.7, while yardage rose to 334, suggesting a modest decline in efficiency despite increased production.

The New York Giants average 21.9 points and 336.6 yards per game overall. In their last three outings, they’ve improved to 26.7 points and 362.7 yards, reflecting a clear upward trend in both scoring and yardage.

The Eagles are coming off a victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. Only time will tell which team comes up on top.

Do you think the Giants can defeat the Eagles once again?
