That love for the sport turned into a passion for Darius, who took it a notch up. After his three-year stint in Hawaii, he joined UCLA. Know about Darius’s Relationship with His Parents

Darius once shared that his father, Matthew Muasau, is a San Francisco 49ers fan. His dad is a die-hard supporter of the Niners, mainly because their games aired conveniently in Hawaii’s time zone. But now that Darius is in the NFL, suiting up for the Giants, the family’s football loyalty is being put to the test.

When asked who his family would be cheering for in the Giants’ Week 9 matchup against the 49ers in the 2025 season, Darius couldn’t help but laugh. “Obviously, us,” he said. “I mean, I’m not a little kid anymore. I’m in the NFL, living out the dream, so I’m rocking with the Giants all the way.”

As for his father, he knows that he will be cheering for him. “Oh, for me,” he said. “He’s rooting for us. I hope so.” How could he not, especially after Giants head coach Brian Daboll praised his son as an “instinctual” player?

“I think the instincts are just a part of who I am,” Muasau told reporters when asked about his preparation. “I’m not the biggest, I’m not the fastest, I’m not the strongest, but when I get out there, I feel like that’s what makes me unique, is just my instincts.”

As Muasau finds more depth reps and a bigger role to contribute to the team, the Giants will need more of his instincts to win games.
