“He Looks Mean”: Russell Wilson’s Workout Clip Earns Pat McAfee’s Approval as Steelers QB Aims to Restore ‘Benched’ Reputation

Things haven’t been quiet for either Russell Wilson or the Steelers ever since the trade-off happened. What became of the biggest dead cap debacle on the Broncos side has now become the hope for the Steelers to clinch a Lombardi. Wilson has made his commitments clear in the past couple of instances.

Recently, a video of the Steelers’ new QB exercising in his backyard broke the internet. The viral video shows Wilson as healthy as ever, doing workouts and dropping dimes on the way. One thing is for sure, we haven’t seen Wilson this excited ever since his time with the Seahawks. The video made it to Pat McAfee, and he had a couple of thoughts to share on the spectacle.

The video started with the hosts watching the Steelers QB do a rigorous workout in his backyard. They were immediately impressed with Wilson’s fitness and his ball-handling abilities. The video shows Wilson’s post on X where he wrote, “Love the Work. The Best is Ahead.” Upon perusal, McAfee described Wilson as having a lot more “pizzaz” than any prospects like Caleb Williams or former Steelers QBs for that matter.

The conversation shifted to how Wilson has become more mature as this new phase in his life kicked in. The hosts compared the situation to how Tua Tagovailoa “changed” after he got tribal tattoos. Wilson’s metamorphosis came in the form of a haircut. One of the hosts said, “Russ gets that haircut, I don’t want to deal with that guy on Sundays,” and added, “he looks mean, and he looks ready to go.”

The conversation shifted to how the Steelers’ new QB is making league minimum and still has a newfound commitment to being his best without being outspoken like “Mr. Unlimited.”

Wilson’s resurgence inspires happiness in Pat McAfee

The former Colts punter pointed out how Wilson was making a league minimum of $1.2 million and getting the rest from the Broncos. This came after his horrible tenure with the Broncos after they threatened to bench him for the rest of his contract if he didn’t give up his $39 million. McAfee couldn’t contain himself and expressed how elated he was.

“I’d be pretty happy bopping around life as well if I got $39 million next year with the expectations of a quarterback that’s only making $1 million.” Said McAfee. One of the hosts also pointed out how the video got to Sean Payton and left him with a chip on his shoulder. Also, the addition of Justin Fields in the arsenal might cover any leaky holes in the Steelers’ arsenal for good. But it’s conditional and won’t happen till 2025.

One thing is for sure, the Steelers became a home to two QBs who might have otherwise struggled to maintain a place in the NFL.
