While NFL superstar Tyreek Hill has played in chilling cold weather, he hasn’t been the one who typically enjoys it. Even one of Hill’s former Miami Dolphins teammates has backed up this stance.

“He lying,” first-team All-Pro Jordan Poyer said of Hill playing in cold weather. “He was one of those guys. When we played against the (Kansas City) Chiefs in the playoff game, it was below zero, and he was out there with his shirt off. He was that guy. But he was back in the locker room saying, ‘Yeah, I can’t do this.’ I’m excited, I wanna see what he really talking about there, I’mma text him.”
Poyer said this after Hill earlier posted a tweet laying down one very specific condition for his NFL comeback, which is: he officially wants the freezing sidelines back. He said he thinks he is “ready for some cold weather,” hinting towards a potential move to one of the colder locations amid NFL returning rumors and links.
Poyer referenced the January 2024 game when the Chiefs defeated the Dolphins 26-7 in the AFC Wild Card playoff game. While Hill told the reporters that not wearing a shirt was just “a mindset” for him before the start of the game, Hill later admitted that the chilling breeze of minus four degrees was too much for him.
The five-time first-team All-Pro has shown willingness to come back to the NFL after almost recovering from an ACL injury and a dislocated knee he suffered in September 2025 against the New York Jets. Earlier on Monday, the wide receiver tweeted that it was “almost time to get off the couch and get to work.”
As far as Hill’s cold-weather condition goes, the two teams that make the most sense as potential destinations are the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots, who do not have a true No. 1 wide receiver on their rosters.
There have also been a few links and rumors while he is getting ready to get into action again. The most widely considered of them all has been the Chiefs link, especially when he played six seasons for them, surviving the winter months in the city, and also winning a Super Bowl with them in the 2019 season.
What makes this move even more crucial for the Chiefs is the fact that superstar Patrick Mahomes needs another pass target, getting the pressure off the shoulders of tight end Travis Kelce and RB Kenneth Walker III, who are tied with 18 targets in the first three games.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN earlier reported that Hill “remains fond of the Chiefs, and a potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense.”
Another rumor, as mentioned above, after the cold-weather tweet follows Hill going to the Green Bay Packers, with WR Christian Watson ranking fifth in the league with 284 receiving yards, and first-round pick rookie Matthew Golden getting 100 yards in Week 3, Hill can take his time to adjust and potentially return to his best.
Hill, who has been actively recovering from his injury, took it to social media, stating in a recovery video how serious his injury was.
“You know what they told me? I may not be able to walk again. And the doctor’s like, ‘Bro, we don’t know what’s gonna happen with your future.’ And now look at me,” Hill said in the video in July. Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also commented on Hill’s status in September.
“He is doing well,” Rosenhaus said. “His doctors have recommended, though, that he postpone his comeback until perhaps sometime in October. We’re playing it on the safe side…We’re not in a rush; we really just want him to be completely healthy.”
Hill explained that he has been doing “all the stability work” and “all the mobility work” to get back to 100%, activating muscles like the quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves.
It is still not confirmed as to which team will get the opportunity to sign the eight-time Pro Bowler, but one thing is clear; Nobody is stopping Cheetah from making a comeback to the NFL.
