It might not look like it from the outside, but the Baltimore Ravens are bruised and battered right now. If not injured, some of their players need rest after having completed a phenomenal regular season. Due to a sudden hit to the roster, the Baltimore Ravens decided to sign Dalvin Cook for practice, who will ultimately transition to playoff games in about 2 and a half weeks.

After the signing took place and everything was said and done, people started asking questions about whether this was the correct decision for the Ravens going forward. While Dalvin Cook’s career with the New York Jets wasn’t so impressive, people believe that in the Ravens offense, the 4x Pro Bowl RB might do some serious damage to the opposition.

Per Ian Rapoport, it’s a waiting game for Dalvin Cooks with the Ravens signing. After mutual understanding, the RB and the New York Jets decided to part ways. For now, he’s on the practice squad, as the Ravens already have Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Melvin Gordon III as their RBs. So, Cook will be a backup to the existing backups. He played 15 games with the Jets and doesn’t have a lot to show for it. But here’s what we do know about him.

In his 15 games with the Jets, Dalvin Cook has 67 carries over 214 yards, averaging 3.4 yards per carry, and couldn’t score a single touchdown in his Jets career. However, before joining the Jets, he had an amazing tenure at the Minnesota Vikings. Cook has played 6 seasons with the Minnesota team and in this offense and was one of the most noticeable players.

Dalvin Cook had more than 1,100 yards in four seasons with the Vikings, from 2019 to 2022. During this time, he managed to average at least 4.4 yards per carry. This might be because the Vikings defense is better than the Jets’ by a parsec. These stats are borderline similar to those of RBs like Christian McCaffrey, who has made quite a name for himself this season. However, it is safe to say that Dalvin Cook might soon get to “Cooking” with the birds.

Per Pro Football Rumors, Dalvin Cook was the only back in the NFL to total at least 1,100 rushing yards each year between the 2019 and 2022 seasons. Despite having a shoulder injury, he managed to amass 1,173 rushing yards and 8 TDs in his last season with the Vikings. His productivity dropped severely during his career with the Jets for some reason.

If everything goes well for the Baltimore Ravens, they will enter the Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years, and Dalvin Cook will witness it firsthand. There are high chances that Dalvin Cook might start for the Ravens, considering how Melvin Gordon has just played three games this year.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
