Hours After Michigan Pro Day, JJ McCarthy Predicted to Replace Kirk Cousins at Vikings

The Michigan Pro Day was one of the most anticipated ones throughout all the Pro Days. Not only because the Michigan Wolverines are the reigning CFP Champions. But also because of their star quarterback, who’s heading to the NFL. As per reports, JJ McCarthy is all set to join the Minnesota Vikings.
Ever since the NFL Combine McCarthy’s draft stock has been on the rise. And theories of him going to the Vikings have been cemented after QB Kirk Cousins was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. After Cousins switched sides, the Vikings haven’t traded for a big-name QB. Hence, all signs point to their leading QB being drafted this year. Will that QB be McCarthy?

McCarthy has been a highly touted QB for some time. However, his performances last year have propelled him to the next level. The 21-year-old did not stop there and proved his mettle at the NFL Combine earlier this month as well.

Now, merely hours after his successful outing at the Michigan Pro Day, reports are circulating that the Vikings are eyeing him for their first pick! The Vikings have the fourth pick in the first round for the upcoming draft, which lines up perfectly for them to draft the CFP winner.

The top three picks of the Chicago Bears, the Washington Commanders, and the New England Patriots are all set to be for QBs. And they have earmarked players for themselves, now it looks like the fourth-pick Vikings have also locked their target. But what is McCarthy’s reaction to this entire development?

At the NFL Combine, McCarthy was formally approached by the Vikings and the Las Vegas Raiders. The Illinois native was excited to meet the Vikings’ coaching staff. He commented on his “amazing” meeting with the Vikings to the press as well.
“Everything about what they were talking about, everything about what they wanted out of a quarterback is something with aligns with what I want”, said McCarthy to the media. Only time will tell whether the Vikings will be able to land McCarthy or if any of the teams higher in the draft will pick him up first.
