Now, just three weeks ahead of his potential return, when Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. asked if Overshown can live up to the expectations and play at the same level as some elite LBs like Fred Warner and Ray Lewis, the 2nd-year LB made his feelings clear about his potential.
“I wanna be coached so that I can be an All-Pro player, I know what I’m capable of,” DeMarvion Overshown reiterated his feelings on X.

Now, while Overshown is confident about becoming an All-Pro player like Fred and Lewis, matching them up is not going to be a cakewalk. Before suffering a dislocated and broken ankle during the Buccaneers’ game this season, the 49ers LB has been a reliable force ever since San Francisco picked him from the 2018 NFL draft in the third round. In the last seven seasons, Warner has missed just one regular-season game out of 117 games and has been leading his team in tackles since then.

As for Ray Lewis, we all know what the now-retired LB has achieved for the Baltimore Ravens during his 17-year-long career. Currently a Hall of Famer, Lewis has two Super Bowls and 12x Pro Bowls among many other noticeable accolades under his name. So, if DeMarvion Overshown hopes to one day be mentioned alongside legends like Lewis and Warner, he’ll need more than just potential.
Is DeMarvion Overshown moving on the right track?
Overshown is confident in his skill set and feels ready to go All-Pro. But Clarence Hill Jr. feels like Overshown might be biting more than he can chew. Overshown is yet to play a full season. In his rookie season for the Cowboys, the 25-year-old LB had 34 assists and five sacks before getting injured. Overshown was never even a Pro to begin with, but he does have the skills.
“He was never an All-Pro; he was never even a Pro. He’s never played a full season. And he really believes it because he knows he has the skills,” Clarence Hill Jr. said via the DLLS Cowboys Podcast.

Hill also suggested that Overshown should not be buying into everything that the Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus says.

Clarence may not be confident with Overshown trying to go All-Pro this early in his career. But at the same time, Overshown returning to the team can help the Cowboys a lot this season. The Cowboys are 3-3-1 this season when they should have been at least 4-2. But since their defense is too shaky this season, the Cowboys have yet to become a championship contender. But can Overshown’s comeback improve this defense?
Marist Liufau (current LB) has not performed up to the mark. In his seven games this season, he has only 13 total tackles with one sack. Whereas Overshown, in his 24 games in the previous season, had 90 total tackles. Liufau still has two games to show his potential before Overshown makes his comeback in the Raiders game on November 17.
Do you think Overshown’s inclusion will turn things around for the Cowboys’ defense?
