Allegedly, the former Wake Forest Demon Deacons player made his way to the NFL because of the rock-solid support of his mom. Despite adversity, his single mom, Latasha Owens, has always remained resilient, and it became the biggest inspiration to Carson’s life.
However, his father, Benjamin Carson, is out of his life, and no information is available on him. But, nonetheless, his mom played a vital role in shaping his journey. Even, Caelen, 22, believes that a tragedy that took his mom’s legs helped him in shaping his NFL trajectory.

Earlier during an interview, the Cowboys player disclosed about the terrible car accident that took place on Christmas Eve. And, it was really an unfortunate moment for the whole Carson family as the mom of 8, sadly, lost her legs during this accident while driving her kids.
When he was candidly talking about his real low roots, Caelen Carson spilled the beans on the terrible tragedy. The young NFL athlete said that the accident took place when he was ‘real young.’ At that moment, he, his mom, and four of his siblings were driving on the night of Christmas Eve. And all of a sudden, his mom “fell asleep” at the wheel and they “hit a tree”.

Carson further explained that their “car caught fire“. But, fortunately, he and his siblings were saved. Reportedly, a stranger helped him and his siblings in getting out of the car, but his mom was stuck badly. “A part of the car was trapping my mom in the driver’s seat. The ambulance and everything showed up, and they were able to get my mom out and fly her to the hospital, but she lost her leg,” Caelen stated.
Despite this unpredictable misfortune, his mom never lost hope, and with a prosthetic limb, Latasha Owens started living her ordinary life. Allegedly, his mom was a single source of finance for the whole family, so she remained consistent, continuing to work two jobs. And her determined nature left a mark on Carson’s life.
Earlier, Carson also hyped up his mom’s persistence and unwavering ability to defy all the odds. And, her resiliency thus became the biggest learning of the cornerback’s life that even shaped his NFL career.

When Caelen Carson’s selection got delayed in the NFL draft 2024, to the 5 round rather than the third or fourth round, it brought a sense of relief to him. He disclosed that his mom invited the “whole world” so when he was finally picked it was a “relief”.

Not only this, on draft day, he also expressed his love for his mom, adoring her sacrifices and tireless effort to push him to get his football aspirations. At the moment, he also disclosed his desire to give back to his mom. “My mom will definitely be crying. She’s the strongest lady I’ve ever met. So for me to be able to tell her she won’t have to work anymore, that’s going to mean a lot to me,” Caelen added.
