The Baltimore Ravens’ star player Mark Andrews might be active for the AFC Championship game. The tight end suffered a severe ankle injury on November 16 that cost him the remainder of the regular season. But now, as he is on the verge of being activated for the Kansas City Chiefs’ game, Andrews is thankful to his medical assistants and his girlfriend for their constant support.
During a victorious encounter with the Cincinnati Bengals, Andrews suffered a cracked fibula and ligament damage to his right ankle. He suffered this due to a controversial tackle play, when the Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson, hip-drop tackled him in the Week 2 game. However, after a long recovery break, Andrews is finally back on the field, and that too, with the help of his girlfriend and her family.

Tight end Mark Andrews has been putting in a lot of effort with the team’s medical staff to get back on the field after an ankle injury. In a recent interview last week, he talked about an interesting part of his recovery, mentioning the use of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
After Andrews suffered this ankle injury, many likened it to Terrell Owens’ 2005 injury, when he “suffered a cracked fibula and ligament damage.” However, he made a remarkable recovery using a hyperbaric chamber to play in Super Bowl XXXIX. Inspired by Owens’ experience, Andrews did some research and learned how oxygen could be beneficial for healing, especially given his diabetic condition.

When questioned about it more on Thursday, Andrews revealed, “My girlfriend’s mom is very into health wellness and they had a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.” She purchased it around eight years ago for about $8,000-$10,000. To expedite the healing, they moved this full-body chamber, “filled and pressurized with 100 percent oxygen,” to Andrews’ home. He revealed that it was his girlfriend and her family’s idea to bring the chamber to his home. In this way, his girlfriend and her family played a significant role in helping Andrews recover during his 71-day-long healing process.

The Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and the team is happy to get Mark Andrews back in the roster. He highlighted how the 28-year-old tight end will contribute to the team’s offense on the field. In a recent press conference on Friday, Jackson said, “With Mark and the type of guy he is, the caliber player he is, and what he brings to the table for us, it would definitely mean a lot for us.”
The quarterback also added, “I believe we’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing — just dishing out the ball to all [of] our guys, not just one person. Mark is definitely going to help us through this process. He’s one of the ones, but we’re going to keep dishing the ball out like we’ve been doing.” Andrews had an impressive performance this season before his injury, showcasing his versatility with 45 receptions for 544 yards in 10 games and scoring six touchdowns. Till now, he along with his quarterback, Jackson, combined for 11 receiving touchdowns this regular season.
