WrestleMania had an unexpected surprise in store for Philadelphia! The Eagles‘ home stadium was brimming with fans, not to watch football for a change but WWE’s 40th edition of its most anticipated event. Rey Mysterio and Andrade were facing their rivals when they got some unexpected help from none other than Jason Kelce!

Ex-teammate Lane Johnson joined the former Eagles center to assist Mysterio in the fight against his son, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. With Dominik and Santos Escobar on one side of the ring and Mysterio and Andrade on the other, the nail-biting match was in its climax, or so we thought. In came two masked saviors from the crowd and helped secure the father’s victory over his son. It was only at the end of the match that the crowd got to see the face behind the mask, and the familiar faces were enough to drive everybody wild.

While we’ve seen Kelce enjoy his retirement and discuss the NFL ongoing on his podcast, his latest stint in wrestling came as a burst of fresh excitement for Eagles’ fans. The Lincoln Financial Field saw a crossover between football and wrestling, and Philadelphia couldn’t be happier! The icing on the cake? We got to witness another one of Kelce’s famous shirtless celebrations in the end.

This was not the first time WrestleMania featured a cameo from a celebrity from a different sphere, with the likes of Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and Donald Trump having shocked fans with their surprise appearances. The stars don’t enter the ring just for fun’s sake, though; their payouts are as big as their names.

NBA legend Tyson featured in the 14th season of the event and raked up to $3.5 million while helping Steve Austin win the championship over Shawn Michaels. Former professional boxer Mayweather participated in WrestleMania 24 in what was a fight of disproportionate sizes. The 15-time world champion, standing at 5’7″, faced the 6’9″ Big Show but secured his victory within 12 minutes and broke his looming opponent’s nose in a staged move. The massively popular fight got Mayweather a humongous sum of $20 million.

Apart from athletes, celebrities from the entertainment world are also a common sight in WrestleMania, with Snoop Dogg and Donald Trump having made appearances in the Big Game. With Kelce’s immense fan following in Philadelphia and the recent buzz around his retirement, the center would easily have earned a multimillion-dollar figure for his stint in the wrestling ring.

Jason Kelce is a Rey Mysterio fan

Talking about his Wrestlemania debut, the retired Eagles star shared his reasons for coming to the aid of Mysterio. “We grew up watching Rey, just such huge fans, and we couldn’t let Dom get the better of his dad quite yet,” said Kelce in a segment of WWE digital Exclusive. Moreover, the wrestler had also come out of retirement to fight his son, Dominic. It was further reported that the Eagles players spent a long time training for their wrestling cameo, as per PWInsider.

Kelce has been a fan of the wrestler and even sported a Lucha mask during Kansas City’s Super Bowl win celebration with his brother Travis. However, the luchador mask had a backstory of its own, as it belonged to young Chiefs fans who lost it in the chaos of the post-win revelry.
