It’s the off-season. Different teams are announcing Hall of Fame inductions for the year. A few days back, the Patriots also announced Julian Edelman as their 37th HOF inductee. But there must be a separate feeling if you get inducted when you are playing in the league and have a long career ahead of you. The only person who can tell us about this feeling is the Chiefs‘ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. His alma mater has decided to do one thing, which will guarantee him a place in the inspiration for future generations.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine recently announced the news that Patrick Mahomes’s Whitehouse High School has decided to induct him into their Hall of Fame, Class of 2025. This is a great announcement, given that he is only 29 years old. His family is pumped up. His mother shared an Instagram story of the announcement with the caption: “So proud of you son @PatrickMahomes.

High school coach Jared Freeman saw the quarterback arrive as a young boy, full of energy, but without direction. The coach trained him in his senior year and recognized one thing that still makes him special: athleticism. That was a dominant trait, but “he elevates the people around him.” Basketball coach Brent Kelly threw some more light on his character, claiming that Mahomes was a born leader and even with the stardom he has, in his heart, he is still a small-town East Texas kid.

Every year, the school cheers for its superstar in different ways. Last year, ahead of the Super Bowl LVIII game against the 49ers, they painted the town red. They also installed a large cardboard cutout of Mahomes, nicknamed Flat Pat, where several students and other fans came to take photographs. They even went one step further and declared Super Bowl day as Patrick Mahomes Day. Unfortunately, he couldn’t win this year, even though his coaches were cheering him on.

Jalen Hurts and his team lit up New Orleans with their deep desire for revenge. They started on a crazy note, going up by 34-0 till the 43rd minute. In the end, the Chiefs lost 22-40, ending their 3-peat dreams. Since then, everyone has been raising fingers at the Grim Reaper.

Power rankings unfairly slight Patrick Mahomes.

While the high school has acknowledged his greatness, the NFL world is doubting it after the Super Bowl LIX loss. In the recent power rankings, CBS Sports ranked the quarterback sixth in the league. Chiefs Kingdom doesn’t like it. Jayden Daniels sat atop the list, followed by Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen (in the order).

Analyst Cody Benjamin criticized the Chiefs and the QB for over-relying on last-minute heroics. He added, “A healthier pass-catching corps should help, but his leaky O-line still has questions. There’s no denying No. 15 is still the most trustworthy signal-caller in the game, but he’s now proven vulnerable twice on the big stage.

2-time Super Bowl winner LeSean McCoy, once said on The Facility show that even though Patrick Mahomes remains calm on the outside, he doesn’t like such disrespect. They ranked him below 3 quarterbacks whom he defeated last year. Among all these QBs, he has the longest consistent run. Reaching the Super Bowl is no mean task. Expect some angry moments this year as the Revenge Tour begins for the signal caller.
