Patrick Mahomes is a hard-working individual. His numbers, his attitude, and his locker room antics support the statement. From locker room pep talks to being angry at the refs, he leaves no stone unturned as far as winning is concerned. But even after clinching a Lombardi, the Chiefs’ signal-caller has a hunger for breaking barriers. He is not getting complacent any time soon. The Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid can attest to this fact.

Andy Reid is doing a media run. In the wake of this Super Bowl win and all the anxiety that the drafting season ensues, Reid took some time to come to Colin Cowherd at Fox Sports Radio and talked about his relationship with the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. From all we gathered, the QB has his eyes set on being the best without anyone pressuring him.

Colin acknowledged the fact that the Chiefs have the NFL’s best quarterback. He wanted to know if Mahomes has ever been on the wrong side of the fence with Andy Reid. “When was the last time you had to bark at a meeting to Mahomes or you had to bark at him at practice?” asked Cowherd.

For once, Colin Cowherd thought that Reid does “bark” at Mahomes because it keeps the “business” running smoothly. The host backs his statement because of the HC’s personality. Surprisingly, there haven’t been a lot of times when Reid had to press the QB.

Reid said, “Yeah, it’s hard to argue with a guy that comes into the huddle every day and goes, let’s be great and means it. And so, um, I don’t have to bark at him a whole lot, he’s a one driven dude and uh, that’s important for a lot of reasons.”

He then added, “But at the same time, if I can get on him just a tick, then I know I can get on anybody uh in that locker room and including myself.” Reid’s assessment seems to be correct as even after winning the Super Bowl, there is no rest for the Chiefs’ QB. He is willing to improve even more and keep the hunger to win alive. Mahomes spoke to the media after winning the Lombardi and he hopes to bring one more next year.

Can the Kansas City Chiefs extend the 3-peat?

The Chiefs QB was asked whether he thinks he can win the Super Bowl next year, moments after SB LVIII. He seemed happy to have come across the question. Safe to say that winning back-to-back Super Bowl doesn’t satisfy his hunger, and he is ready to get more success.

“All you can do is come back with a fresh mindset, knowing that it’s going to be even harder and that we’ve got to continue to play our best football,” Mahomes said to the media after winning the Super Bowl. Interestingly, the last time a team won back-to-back Super Bowls was the New England Patriots back in 2004-2005. Mahomes is driven to keep that spirit alive and might even surpass Tom Brady. He’s already broken a couple of his records.

Another instance to recall is the time when the Chiefs lost to the Buffalo Bills in week 14 of the 2023 regular season. It’s during Kadarius Toney’s famous “off-side” incident. Toney’s touchdown was overruled and Mahomes was angry. He was seen slamming his helmet on the ground and yelling at the officials. All it showed is the fact that the Chiefs QB is committed to win.
