“I Failed”: Brock Purdy Accepts Responsibility for 49ers Defeat as Chiefs Snatch Super Bowl Title

After the “Mr. Irrelevant” moniker, after the offseason elbow surgery, after all the chatter about being “overrated” and “lucky,” San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy still unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of the game. Brock Purdy shined bright in the Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Yet, the Chiefs did not let the young QB snatch away the victory from them.

Purdy accepted his share of responsibility as the 49ers fell short to the Chiefs in the overtime. Speaking to the media in a post-match presser, the 24-year-old appeared extremely disheartened with the defeat, and his words depicted the same, if not more.

49ers on NBCS took to to social media platform ‘X’ and shared a snippet from the presser. Captioning it as “I failed to put our team in position to [score touchdowns].” Brock takes full accountability for the offense’s struggles.” Speaking about how the 49ers ‘shot themselves in the foot with penalties and operations, the QB could be heard saying, “I gotta be better in terms of leading the guys and handling the huddle.”
