Antonio Pierce saved the Las Vegas Raiders from a disappointing season that they could have had with Josh McDaniels. From being last in the division to making their way to the second spot is what the Raiders have done this season. While the New England Patriots are eyeing Jerod Mayo as their next possible HC, the question arose as to why the Raiders couldn’t do the same with Antonio Pierce.

Ian Rapoport tweeted about Mayo being the potential candidate for the HC position with the Pats and addressed Antonio Pierce in a follow-up tweet. While people were already thinking about Pierce as a prospect for the Raiders, Rapoport’s tweet might just spread the thought like wildfire, and Pierce becoming the HC might manifest itself into reality.

Should the Las Vegas Raiders give a second thought to Antonio Pierce?

This is the same question that Ian Rapoport posed to the football enthusiasts and the team itself. Pierce. The similarity between Jerod Mayo and Antonio Pierce is that they both were LB coaches before the opportunity knocked on their door. What makes an even stronger case for Pierce to take over is that he won a Super Bowl Championship and has been a Pro Bowler.

Rapoport’s tweet posed a question on X following his previous tweet about Mayo saying, “Why couldn’t the #Raiders do this with Antonio Pierce? He took over for Josh McDaniels mid-year — thus they could not have known prior to the season — and established it in his position coach contract — whether he was the successor.”

Their next choice is Antonio Pierce, who not only played in the league but also has more than a decade of coaching experience. However, at this point, Jim Harbaugh is also making a strong case for himself.

Well, it’s not just the Raiders; many other teams are eyeing Harbaugh, per a report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Like every other coach in the NFL, Harbaugh is not bound by the NFL’s terms and conditions and is free to speak to any team that he wants right now. Before this day, he had been invited to join the Vikings two years ago. After a year went by, he had an offer from the Denver Broncos as well. It is safe to say that he is among the favorite coaches right now.

However, it might not be that easy to get rid of Antonio Pierce because the players in the locker room have unwavering faith in him. They might not let go of him that easily. Also, after nearly saving the Raiders from finishing last in their division, Pierce has surely proved his credibility as an HC.

An article from Sports Illustrated quotes Davante Adams saying, “Yeah, I mean, he’s obviously who I want, that’s my vote, and I’ve been vocal about that.” Hopefully, they do Antonio Pierce justice and give him the spot that many think he deserves.

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
