You’d think being the mom of the league’s golden boy would be all glitz and glam, but Randi Mahomes is here to spill the real tea. Tackling both cheers and crazy rumors head-on, the Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes’ mom is setting the record straight. 

On an episode of The Mom Game Podcast, Mama Mahomes dropped a truth bombshell, shutting down chatter about her being engaged. “I’m not engaged and they’re like, ‘Yes you are, read it on the internet’,” Randi exclaimed, pretty frustrated. “I’m like, okay, but I’m telling you I’m not. It just gets to be overwhelming sometimes, especially at work.” The fake news storm had even seeped into her work life, adding unnecessary stress to her already busy schedule.

But Randi is more than just the Kansas City star QB’s mom. She’s a superwoman who has dealt with her own hurdles from day one. Mama Mahomes parted ways with former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes Sr 18 years ago. Since then, she has balanced two jobs, trying to make ends meet. 

“I would never depend on a man or anyone again,” Randi declared. This is miles away from the usual image of a pro athlete’s ex living it up. Having raised sons, Patrick and Jackson, raising daughter Mia Randall (born 2011) as a single mom was no cakewalk for Randi. While she never revealed the identity of Mia’s father, she did highlight the battle she went through.

Butker’s comments, celebrating homemaking as the top job for women, got mixed reactions. 

In another instance, when an X user threw shade at Randi, saying she walked into money by marrying a pro athlete, she shot back with a blunt truth: “And was left with nothing.” Randi, who was married to Patrick Mahomes Sr. for over 20 years, knows the grind of single motherhood all too well. After their 2006 split, she opened up, “Life with a big-league baseball player has its fair share of challenges, and the divorce took its toll.”

Even though it wasn’t all glitz and glamor, Randi’s story is all about resilience. She’s still on good terms with Patrick Sr., proving that even in the world of sports, real life is never just a highlight reel.
