The football world witnessed blockbuster action inside the Allegiant Stadium between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. But outside the stadium, the hype was even bigger before the Super Bowl. While the 49ers were favored to be better on paper, Chiefs fans were further worried after Skip Bayless called Taylor Swift a ‘distraction‘ for quarterback Travis Kelce. However, after a spectacular display of grit and determination from the Chiefs, the analyst called the duo the most powerful couple. But his opinion on Chiefs head coach Andy Reid didn’t change.

Skip Bayless full of praise for Andy Reid

A few days before the Super Bowl clash, Skip Bayless chose Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes over 49ers’ Brock Purdy and called him the “Game changer”. As the game unfolded, his words came true as Mahomes led the Chiefs’ comeback. After the 49ers fell short, he took to Twitter to reveal the reason behind his choice. And its head coach Andy Reid. “This always came down to whether I was picking Mahomes or Purdy in the biggest stage. And in BIG game coaching, I’m taking Andy Reid, ” he wrote.

Reid was appointed as the head coach of the Chiefs in 2013 and has completely transformed them into the best in the league. He led the team to three Lombardi trophies, which included ending a 50-year drought in 2019. Chiefs now stand with 7th most Super Bowl victories on 4, and they are surely eyeing a three-peat as Patrick Mahomes revealed earlier. With Reid still having two seasons left in his contract and Patrick Mahomes in the best form of his life, it’s very much possible. And despite being shoved away, he still loves Travis Kelce.

While the Chiefs emerged victorious in the end, there were several moments in the game where players lost their cool, including Travis Kelce. He shoved and yelled at Andy Reid, but the head coach didn’t take it seriously. “The part I love is he loves to play the game, and he wants to help his team win. It’s not a selfish thing, that’s not what it is, and I understand that”, he expressed following the win.

In another interview, Reid joked off on Kelce’s outburst, saying, “He keeps me young. Tested that hip out. He caught me off balance. Normally I’d give him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me“. Just like Reid, the Chiefs quarterback also has a couple of seasons left in his contract and would join the hands to do the historic three-peat.
