Is Aaron Rodgers capable of leading the New York Jets to the Super Bowl? As much as it’s true that the Jets have recruited some promising players lately, Aaron Rodgers will need to put in an equal amount of effort to win the Super Bowl. But some recent speculation and questions on him have surely raised doubts in the minds of many.

The Jets recently acquired Mike Williams, Tyron Smith, Leki Fotu, Tyrod Taylor, and re-signed Greg Zuerlein, among other trade moves. They also have Garrett Wilson, who along with Williams are said to be Rodgers’ strong weapons this upcoming season. But is that enough for the 40-year-old QB to return to the gridiron and win the championship, especially after his Achilles surgery?

Colin Cowherd doubts Aaron Rodgers’ ability?

In a recent episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast, the host was joined by ‘3 & Out’ host John Middlekauff, to discuss Aaron Rodgers and his ability to lead the Jets to the AFC championship and ultimately the Super Bowl. They discussed how Rodgers’ game has changed overtime. Middlekauff expressed that for Aaron “last year in Green Bay something was off. It might have just been age. In the history of sports most guys at 38, 39 start trending the wrong way. I know he’s a healthy guy, looks good, but he wasn’t quite as fast as his arm, still there, but a huge part of his ability” seems to be declining.

The hosts attributed this decline of A-Rod to various factors, including age, and a decrease in his mobility. Middlekauff also added, saying, “Well he’s not as fast probably anymore so he doesn’t want to risk getting tackle hit.” To which Cowherd replied, “Old guys don’t want to get hit. I mean you know Eli Manning and Brady mastered getting rid of it quickly or figured out how to roll and not get hit. So I don’t think Aaron [will]. I also think Aaron isn’t quite as committed as a lot of the young guys that are really bigger, stronger.”

Cowherd suggested that to excel in football, a player needs to be intensely focused like Kirk Cousins or obsessed like Tom Brady. He emphasized that Rodgers may not have the same level of dedication as Brady or other elite quarterbacks, as he is not known for spending expensive time studying game film like them. Instead, Rodgers prefers to do his own thing, which may not align with the work ethic of players like Brady or Drew Brees. So, as per Cowherd, the Jets need to have a good O-Line as well as Rodgers must be dedicated enough to clinch the Super Bowl for the franchise after 1969.

Meanwhile, Rodgers was currently busy self-healing, and now his team wants their captain for offseason workouts, as they, unlike Cowherd, believe Rodgers is their key to victory.

The Jets are expecting Aaron Rodgers on time?

Aaron Rodgers injured his left Achilles tendon during his fourth offensive play with the team last year. He underwent surgery and has been rehabilitating at his home in California since then. Despite the setback, Jets coach Robert Saleh expressed confidence in Rodgers’ determination to return to form. Saleh expects Rodgers to participate in offseason workouts with the team and believes he can bounce back from the injury.

While some doubt Rodgers’ ability to return to his previous level of performance, the Jets remain optimistic about his recovery. Saleh emphasized that if Rodgers can maintain good footwork and throwing ability, he will be able to overcome the injury and continue to excel on the field.

So, it remains to be seen whether optimism or pessimism for Rodgers turns out to be true.
