In the mid-season last year, it seemed like Tyreek Hill was on the brink of covering 2,000 yards. But then came the injury that left him on the rim of attaining his dream target. The Miami Dolphins‘ star has always expressed his desire to cross 2,000 receiving yards in a single season, but Hill has remained short of achieving this by just a few yards in recent times due to various reasons, as discussed by him.

The Cheetah appeared on the Punch Line Podcast with Marlon Humphrey and discussed aspects of his eight-year-long career. Hill was also asked about his desire to be included in the Hall of Fame. The wide receiver opened up about his shortcomings last season and how the ankle injury hampered his practice, giving several interesting insights.

On being asked what it takes to achieve 2,000 yards, Hill related how he prepared for the feat right from the beginning of the season. “I was cooking,” the WR said and stressed “being consistent with your everyday routine” as a major pointer he set for himself to follow. He relayed his organized week, packed with therapy, watching films, and practicing, while on Friday, Hill would go out for dinner with his wife.

However, Hill admitted that he “fell off towards the end of the season.” He said he started skipping routine activities and dinners with his wife as he grew tired as the season proceeded. On top of that, his injury added an extra load, which further messed up his schedule. The former Chiefs player shared how his injury hampered his progress in the season.

The Miami player has reached the Pro Bowl in all his eight seasons in the NFL and even helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl LIV. Despite these accolades to his name, Hill hasn’t been able to make his place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Talking about the prospect of getting the elite golden jacket symbolizing the achievement, Hill admitted it would be “awesome.

However, the Cheetah also humbly added that he still has a lot of work to put in to get into the top tier of NFL legends. He said that he would love to achieve the honor as it would etch his name into football’s history forever.

“That’ll be awesome, but I feel like right now I’m not even in that Ram of players yet. You know, I still got a long way to go. I’m still in the prime of my career,” Hill said. “It’ll be amazing to wear the gold jacket and represent the NFL and, man, the brand itself, you know, for the rest of my life – to become immortal.”

Tyreek Hill has made a name for himself in the league after being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. Fondly nicknamed ‘Cheetah’ because of his unmatchable speed, Hill had 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns in the last season. The upcoming season might be a comeback for the wide receiver and hopefully will achieve his dream of 2,000 yards in one season.
