Two friends dive into what seems like any other podcast banter—sunburns, awkward school dances, and the joys of surviving DMV drama. But then, Charissa Thompson dropped a bombshell story that Erin Andrews halts mid-surprise. It’s not about football, work, or the sidelines this time. It’s raw, personal, and takes a turn into something we don’t often talk about: the insecurities that creep in with age, sometimes fueled by the people closest to you.
Charissa’s love life hasn’t been a smooth ride. First, her 2020 marriage to sports agent Kyle Thousand caused quite a stir—especially after their divorce in 2022. And now, she had a disappointing encounter with her current boyfriend, Steven Cundari. Yup, on the May 8 episode of her Calm Down with Erin and Charissa podcast (which she hosts with Erin Andrews), Charissa finally opened up about it. Charissa shared some details about this story of her life on her Instagram page, and honestly, it’s pretty unexpected.
She explained, “I got to break up with him,” revealing that she felt like she was becoming too emotionally attached to her boyfriend. She didn’t want her happiness to be tied to someone else. That’s deep, right? They’re super close and into each other, yet Steve recently said something that was just plain rude.

On her most recent podcast, Charissa reminisced about her 43rd birthday. She mentioned Erin’s husband, Jerret, and how sweet he always is to Erin. Like, the guy’s got the charming-husband thing down to a science. She even played a clip from an earlier episode where Jerret tells Erin, “I think you do have good skin. And you look a lot younger than what you are.” Aww, right? Erin handles it like a pro, laughing it off with a confident “But I am.” Now, contrast that with what Steve said to Charissa.
Here’s what went down: Charissa shared, “Guess what Steve said to me on the morning of my 43rd birthday? It was overcast here at the ranch, and I thought, okay, let’s make it a cozy day inside.” She continues, “I sit down on the couch, ready for a chill day, and he goes, ‘Well, you’re old now, get on over here.’” Wait—WHAT? Erin quickly jumps in with, “But that’s my house!” Which—right?! Who says stuff like that in your own home? First, telling someone—on their birthday—to get up like that? Not cool. And then adding the whole “you’re old” comment on top of it? Insulting, right?

Charissa wasn’t having it either. She explained, “How about I don’t want to be near you now? Like, what? We should have been celebrating my birthday! But no—he goes, ‘That’s not what I meant.’” She questioned, “What am I supposed to make of ‘You’re old now, get on over here’? What does that even mean?” Then he added, “Come sit on daddy’s lap; get on over here.” Maybe Steve thought he was being playful or trying to be affectionate, but come on! There’s a way to be sweet or comforting without coming off—well, disrespectful.
Charissa felt thrown off—after all, it was her birthday! It’s understandable why she felt upset and confused after hearing that. Some things are better left unsaid—or at least delivered with a little more tact. Along with her story, Erin also opened up about her awful experience on the podcast.

Is it ever okay to joke about age in relationships, or is it a no-go zone?

Erin Andrews opened up about her ‘horrific’ surgery journey
Picture this: You’re scrolling through Instagram, soaking up all the throwback cheerleader pics people are posting. Suddenly—bam—Erin Andrews casually hits you with a surgical horror story right in the middle of a podcast.
Yep, on the May 3 episode of Calm Down, Erin and Charissa Thompson pause their usual NFL chatter and take a hilarious detour down memory lane, sharing some deeply personal and awkward high school moments. Forget game analysis—this week’s podcast focuses on real talk, embarrassing stories, and pure nostalgia. From the moment they sit in the studio, the vibe is a perfect mix of heartfelt and headline-worthy.
Charissa kicks things off with a DMV story about a massive sunburn, but Erin quickly steals the show. She dives into a childhood memory that leaves fans cringing and laughing—a gnarly tale about an ear surgery intended to fix her sticking-out ears for school photos.
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t go as planned. Fans flood the comments with reactions like, “I had the same ear surgery, Erin!” and “The ears 👂 story is kinda insane 😳 lmao.”

In a clip posted by @calmdownpodcast on Instagram, Erin explained to Charissa how her mom suggested ear-pinning surgery to help with her prominent ears in school pictures. “My school pictures always had my left ear sticking out. So my mom said, ‘If it bothers you enough, we could get it pulled back,’” Erin recalled.
Trusting her mom, she underwent the procedure, which involved making slits behind her ears and doing some cartilage adjustments. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. The aftermath proved traumatizing indeed, to say the least. Reflecting on it now, Erin called it a “horrific situation… the worst thing I ever did in my life.” However, Charissa Thompson burst out laughing, completely shocked, and asked, “Why?”

Erin doesn’t hold back: “I feel blood trickle down, shove my finger in, pull the bandage out—ain’t cute—walk into my mom’s bedroom.” Classic Erin—she shares something totally cringeworthy with her signature humor. The hilarious back-and-forth between the two makes it clear why their fans love them so much.
But that’s not all. In another recent episode, Pregame—Positive Mindset, Erin and Charissa Thompson discussed what it means to surround yourself with uplifting, positive people. It’s another example of how these two balance fun throwbacks with real-life wisdom.
