The Dallas Cowboys‘ 25-28 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday put them on a two-game loss streak. But it can’t be denied that they gave us one hell of a show. Going into the 4th quarter, the Cowboys were down 6-28. Their last-quarter heroics – 3 touchdowns – brought them within touching distance of a win. Some of those heroics involved wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, with an impeccable reception to Dak Prescott‘s 15-yard touchdown pass.

The Cowboys drafted Tolbert in the 3rd round back in 2022, and the young man’s gotten better every season. He played 8 games in his first season, starting in just 1 and receiving only 2 passes. Compare that to 2023, where he played in 17 games, started in 6, and had 22 receptions across them, with 2 touchdowns. He gave the Cowboys enough faith for them to start with him every game this season so far. And 10 receptions and a touchdown in 3 games isn’t a bad start either. Longtime Cowboys fans may have noticed he shares his surname with Tony Tolbert, defensive end for the team from 1989-97. However, it seems like they’re not related to each other. At least as far as we can tell.

The young Cowboy’s been quite reserved about putting his family on social media or talking to the press about them. As far as we can tell, the only time he’s named a family member on social media was when he spoke out for dyslexia awareness for “My Cause My Cleats” and brought up his little sister who suffers from the condition, Mamie Camille. Other members of his family have popped up on his social media too, his mother on one occasion, and a little brother later. Tolbert’s kept their names private, though, and it’s probably for the best. It’s like the man knew he was destined for stardom and prepared accordingly.

Where Does Baltimore Ravens Roster Still Lack Elite Talent?

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, where he called himself a “country boy,” the Alabama native did mention his dad. Apparently his family has a farm in Alabama, with all the usuals, goats, crops, horses and the like. “Dad does a lot of farming of corn, watermelon, squash,” Tolbert said. All this makes it even less likely that Tony Tolbert, a New Jersey native with a degenerative knee condition (not something you’d want as a farmer) would be Jalen’s father. The retired legend does have a son who played football, though. A.J. Tolbert, born in 1995, played defensive end (same as his dad) for Abilene Christian Universty, Texas.

What is Jalen Tolbert’s religion? How much is he worth?

While Tolbert hasn’t gone on record confirming his faith, his activity online shows he’s Christian, though it’s unclear what denomination. Though he’s not very active on his X anymore, he used to quote scripture fairly often. At various points, he quotes Philippians 1:6, Proverbs 16:9, and Proverbs 3:5, among others. He often talked about drawing strength from God to face challenges, so it’s clear his faith is an asset to him.

As for his net worth, we know he signed a 4-year $5,135,720 contract. That came with a $915,068 signing bonus and $915,068 guaranteed payout. He has, of course, far exceeded that minimum by now, with estimated career earnings at $3,730,394. A large farm in Mobile County, Alabama (where he was born) seem to go for anywhere from half a million to upwards of $3 million, so factor that in, too. With no recorded injuries since 2017, Tolbert looks set to have a fairly long and profitable career. His performance this year has certainly upped his value, ahead of his contract signing, set for 2026. Let’s see how much the Dallas Cowboys lean on him this season.
