The sun is setting on the Joe Flacco era in Cleveland after the Browns‘ 45-14 tumble against the Texans. While the scoreboard may not be kind, Flacco’s stint won’t fade from the memories of the Browns faithful—or Flacco himself. The quarterback inked a deal with the Browns in late November. Orchestrating a symphony of victories, leading the team to four consecutive triumphs and a coveted playoff spot. Alas, the Flacco flair abruptly ceased on Saturday.

Flacco threw his ninth and 10th interceptions donning the orange and brown. Despite his valiant effort, tallying 307 yards and one touchdown. It wasn’t enough to outscore the electrifying CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans. The curtain may be falling on Flacco’s Cleveland chapter.

Joe Flacco’s single-season affair with the Browns is now effectively over. With the Super Bowl dreams now slipping through their grasp, Flacco bids farewell to Cleveland and the NFL. The Browns took to social media platform ‘X’ to share a snippet of Flacco speaking to the press. The video featured Flacco saying, “I can’t thank the organization, my teammates, the city, enough… It stinks the way it ends, but it was a lot of fun and I’m grateful for the time that we had”.

Back on December 28, the Browns clinched a playoff spot, marking their third in three decades. And entered Houston on Saturday as the favored contenders. Flacco had a stellar start, threading 15-of-19 passes for 172 yards in the opening half. Yet, the tale took a bitter turn with his two ill-fated pick-sixes that sent the Browns spiraling, as Houston surged to a commanding 38-14 lead, all but sealing Cleveland’s fate.

Rookie QB’s aerial mastery stuns NFL giants

Joe Flacco lasted only six games, but it was one of the best six-game stretches a Browns quarterback had ever built. Meanwhile, in his playoff debut, C.J. Stroud dismantled the vaunted No. 1 ranked NFL defense in the first half on Saturday. His aerial prowess was nothing short of mesmerizing, with 274 yards and three touchdowns, culminating in a nearly flawless 157.2 passer rating.

The anticipation is palpable, assuming Deshaun Watson fully recovers – he’s poised to reclaim the helm as the Browns’ starting quarterback in the upcoming 2024 season. However, the tale doesn’t end there. The resilient Joe Flacco could potentially stage a comeback as the backup. Till then, the echoes of his whirlwind arrival and the highs and lows he brought to the gridiron will resonate in the Dawg Pound for seasons to come.

"If you stumble, make it part of the dance." While a little out of context from this quote, years back I stumbled across the vibrant dynamics of football, and its Red Army became part of my world. Since then, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the team I find therapeutic solace in.
