The Sunday Night Football broadcast did not go quite as planned. The night marked the fourth straight loss for the Washington Commanders as they fell before the Seattle Seahawks by a margin of 38 – 14. But the final result wasn’t the only thing making news. There was a technical glitch before the game that set the social media ablaze.

Heading into the night, NBC sportscaster Jac Collinsworth faced some technical difficulties, which silenced him abruptly while he was talking about the Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Before his mic cut out, Collinsworth could only say, “Jadien Daniels will play…” After a silence for almost 17 seconds, another voice was finally heard. “Little bit of technical difficulties out there but the good news is our mic is still working in the studio”

For Jac Collinsworth, the timing couldn’t have been worse. The son of NBC Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth, he rejoined NBC on 4th March 2020. After his 2013-2017 stint with NBC, Collinsworth covered the NFL for the last three seasons as a host and features reporter at ESPN. Although Collinsworth Jr. has been a strong voice at NBC, this time he made headlines for the wrong reason. In fact, the glitch itself wasn’t a new occurrence.
Back in the 2024 season, during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Atlanta Falcons game on September 23rd, NBC experienced technical difficulties, causing the screen to go blank for a moment. Ironically, Cris Collinsworth was on air that night explaining what happened. This week, it was his son’s turn to deal with the issue.

The Standoff between NBC and YouTube
On October 2, 2025, NBC issued a warning that its channel could be removed from the platform if it did not reach an agreement with YouTube within 3-4 days. The dispute concerned the best rates and terms available in the market.
According to Front Office Sports’ Eric Fisher, NBC stated, “YouTube TV has refused the best rates and terms in the market, demanding preferential treatment and seeking an unfair advantage over competitors to dominate the video marketplace — all under the false pretense of fighting for the consumer.”
For a while, fans worried they’d lose access to Sunday Night Football and other major events. But thankfully, both sides reached an agreement. The agreement revived NBC Sports Network, with reports suggesting that programming originally planned for Peacock will now air on NBCSN, which will be accessible via YouTube TV.
The truce was good news for viewers. Still, with the network’s recent technical hiccups, fans are just hoping that next time Jac or Cris Collinsworth takes the mic, it stays on
