Travis Hunter helped lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 17-10 win over the Houston Texans in Week 3, building on his career-high 80 snaps from the previous game. When asked postgame about comparisons to Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, the No. 2 overall pick firmly dismissed them.

Hunter addressed the anthropology-culture question with calm clarity, offering a grounded response about team focus and family values.
He joined the Jaguars in June 2025 after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Before coming to the Jags, he logged an impressive performance with the Buffaloes with 2,625 snaps over two seasons, leading the FBS in both 2023 and 2024.

It now appears that acquiring the 22-year-old wasn’t just about its draft pick, but about building the team’s future with potential young talent.
Hunter’s ability to play both defense as a cornerback and offense as a wide receiver makes him a perfect fit for the Jaguars’ long-term plans. He can shut down opponents and make big plays, giving the team flexibility and strength on both sides of the ball.
“Travis Hunter, he embodies belief,” Jaguars general manager James Gladstone told local Jacksonville media while sitting alongside Hunter. “He’s a rare person, he’s a rare player. He’s also a reminder that the boundaries of the game of football were built to be challenged.”
Against the Texans, Hunter delivered a balanced performance. On defense, he played 43 snaps and recorded 7 tackles, showing solid coverage despite allowing 48 yards. Offensively, he made 1 catch for 21 yards on 2 targets, contributing a key gain. His two-way impact helped the Jaguars secure a 17–10 win and handed the Texans their third straight loss of the season.

Jaguars take convincing win over Texans
On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars battled and emerged victorious over the Houston Texans at EverBank Stadium. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. helped secure the win.
He had 15 carries for 56 yards and the match-winning touchdown, a 10-yard rush in the fourth quarter. Although Houston attempted to stop the run with strong defensive formations, Etienne ultimately broke through late, providing the Jaguars with the necessary buffer.
His performance in the second half was so strong that it helped the Jaguars dominate the match, overcoming early struggles moving the ball in the first half.
The Jaguars’ defense was the true game-changer, putting constant pressure on Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud throughout the afternoon.
Two sacks, three forced turnovers, and several three-and-outs kept the Houston offense in check. Jourdan Lewis intercepted a pass in the red zone, and Tyson Campbell bounced back after surrendering a big touchdown to force a fumble from Nico Collins, which was recovered by Devin Lloyd.
Josh Hines-Allen also made a splash, tipping a Stroud pass late in the game that led to Antonio Johnson’s interception to seal the win.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence struggled to make an impact, completing just 20 of 40 passes for 222 yards and one interception. His accuracy was inconsistent, and he missed several key opportunities, though he delivered a crucial 46-yard pass to Brian Thomas Jr. on the final scoring drive.
Tight end Brenton Strange also impressed, leading the team with 6 catches for 61 yards.

Despite penalties, dropped passes, and offensive inconsistency, the Jaguars held off Houston with clutch defense and Etienne’s late touchdown. Jacksonville is now 2-0 at home and 1-0 in the AFC South.
