Quarterback Trevor Lawrence dragged the Jacksonville Jaguars to an OT 30–29 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, as they extend their lead at the second spot in the AFC South. Word broke early that Lawrence wasn’t feeling well but would try to play through it. After the win, his wife, Marissa, gave everyone a glimpse of just how rough it really was.

It wasn’t the flashiest stat line of Lawrence’s career: 23 completions on 34 throws for 220 yards, one pick, and no passing touchdowns. But he made plays when it mattered. His legs did most of the damage, scoring twice on the ground and carrying the Jaguars offense when the game was up in the air.

He had a rather quiet start to the game, but he stepped up when he had to. And head coach Liam Coen echoed the same sentiment. “I’m really proud of Trevor [Lawrence],” the coach said.
“Obviously, he was throwing up all night, all morning, was pale as a ghost throughout the whole game, and obviously started a low go with obviously the frustrating interception down the goal-line. But man, I’m very proud of the way he responded, the way that he played, especially later on, when the game really was on the line, critical third down conversions, had the draw that he walks in on. I mean, he competed his tail off, very proud of him.”
And when Trevor Lawrence was asked if there was ever a moment of doubt in his head that he wouldn’t play, he said that he didn’t give himself that option, considering how important this game was for the Jaguars. Tonight was a testament to how good a leader he is and why the Jaguars cannot ever take him for granted.

How Lawrence led the Jaguars to victory
When Trevor Lawrence popped up on the Jaguars’ injury report late in the week with an illness, the expectation was that he’d suit up, but maybe not look like himself. You figured he’d be out there, gutting it out, trying to give them a chance, but probably not playing at his usual level. For a while, that seemed about right. Then, late in the game, Lawrence locked in.
Down 23–20 with less than two minutes left, Jacksonville needed something special. Lawrence delivered it. He took the offense 42 yards in eight plays, setting up kicker Cam Little for a 48-yard field goal, which also set an NFL record, by the way.
Lawrence wasn’t dominant through the air, and the stat sheet won’t jump out at you. But when it mattered, he made every play that counted. He finished with just 24 yards on nine carries, but two of those runs ended in the end zone. More rushing touchdowns than anyone else on the team. The second one sealed it: a gutsy leap over the pile in overtime, stretching the ball just across the goal line for a 30–23 lead with 3:24 left.
It wasn’t a perfect night for Jacksonville. Bhayshul Tuten found the end zone once on the ground, and none of the wideouts scored. But when things got tight, it was Lawrence who carried them. Sick or not, he found a way.
Jaguars will hope the quarterback stays closer to full strength next week when they face Houston, which is trying to chase the second position in the AFC South.
