The Philadelphia Eagles‘ 2024 season was more of a statement than just a campaign. A 40–22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX led them to glory. Jalen Hurts, once the underdog, now the architect of triumph. With 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and adding 72 rushing yards with another score, he earned Super Bowl MVP honors. They finished the season with an 18-3 win-loss record, a record. Their offense also created a record with 145 postseason points, most in history. The defense? Relentless. Six sacks, three turnovers, and a first-half shutdown that left the Chiefs scoreless. Rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean‘s pick-six on his birthday was the exclamation point.
They start this year with high expectations. The City of Philadelphia wants them to retain the trophy. According to the leaked NFL schedule accessed by Ozzy, the Birds will open their campaign on September 4, 2025 against Dallas Cowboys. So, it will be America’s Team vs the Super Bowl champions.

One of the NFL’s most storied rivalries, dates back to 1960. As we are in the 2025 off-season, the Cowboys have won more games with a 74–58 win-loss record. They have won more in postseason too with a 3–1 record. Between 2020 and 2024, the teams have proved to be equal match, with each side winning five games. However, the Eagles dominated the Cowboys in the two matchups during the 2024 season, winning 34–6 in week 10 and 41–7 in week 17.
Not only about the teams, even the Eagles fans insulted the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. One fan told him last December on an episode of 105.3 The Fan, “Keep doing the job you’re doing this year.” While Jones initially thought it was a compliment, but he soon realized that they failed to win their 6th Super Bowl, while the Birds became the champions.
It all depends on their quarterbacks now. Dak Prescott has a new head coach this year, while Hurts will play under the same coach.
What’s your perspective on:
Can the Cowboys finally break the Eagles' dominance, or will Philly continue their winning streak?

Jalen Hurts still not best after winning the Super Bowl
Even after winning the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts is still not the best quarterback. A few days ago, CBS Sports‘ power rankings listed him at the 2nd position behind Jayden Daniels. A few days ago, the former QB Chase Daniel also trolled the Eagles signal caller by not calling him a top-tier quarterback.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon echoed the same sentiment by ranking him at the 5th spot in 2025 QBs. He said, “He may be far from your typical franchise quarterback, and it’s fair to wonder just how effective he’d be without such a dominant supporting cast, but Jalen Hurts has become one of the most uniquely productive offensive players in the sport.”

Gagnon then named Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson better than the Eagles QB. So, he already has a chip on his shoulder. Can he turn the tide? Time will tell us the true story of his greatness.
