There is no doubt that it’s gonna be hard competition for Jaxson Dart to be the QB1. The New York Giants already have two stars in the name of Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. Hence, Dart has to pull up his socks to compete against them, which seems hard for the 2025 season. There must be some internal strategy by Brian Daboll for the QB room. But as the 21-YO QB landed in New York, it’s gonna be a problem not only for Wilson and Winston but for those teams that likely did him dirty. And if history is anything to go by, then the quarterback would be looking for a way to make those teams regret.
Let’s circle back to the time before he came to New York. There were other teams interested in Dart. But what happened on the draft days? Everyone saw that Dart wasn’t selected by them as the first pick. As a result of that, when Dart was asked about the draft drama by those NFL teams, he just said, “I mean, I think a lot of people have seen, you know, the process a little bit on Hard Knocks. But it’s intense. I kind of had an idea coming into it, you know, that I had to make sure that I was on my P’s and Q’s when I walked in. So, it was super fun.” Then Dart painfully added how those teams made him work out at their facilities, also gave a great response, but didn’t bother to choose in the draft.
He added, “I think that at the same time, you know, we were able to just form an organic relationship. And, they definitely tested me, you know, harder than any other, you know, team throughout this process.” Alright. If you listen carefully, the reporter asks Jaxson Dart about Dave Canales. Yes, because the Carolina Panthers were the top interest team while he was showing off his skills for those teams. Apart from the Panthers, he spent ample time impressing the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. Other than these teams, Tom Brady’s Raiders, the New York Jets, and the Saints were also the top landing spots for Dart. The Raiders and Jets were maybe looking for backup, and the Saints were on the hunt for QB1.

Well, the Giants landed him in the first round as the 25th overall pick. That alone shows they believe in his potential. After spending time with him, reports say Brian Daboll was impressed. He liked Dart’s work ethic, football IQ, and leadership. Now, let’s take a closer look at Daboll and Dart’s personalities. Their connection could shape the future of the Giants’ offense.
Brian Daboll got the QB he wanted in Jaxson Dart
Per The Giants Report’s update on X, Daboll and Tierney were seen with Dart. And when Tierney said “great” at the end, Daboll just nodded in agreement. The Giants were among the top teams that were interested in Dart, but there was the Shedeur Sanders factor. Everybody thought the Giants would pick Shedeur. Experts and reports were suggesting the same, but things went differently on the first day, and Dart packed his stuff to land in New York.

After the draft day, Daboll also expressed his overwhelming reaction to the 21-year-old QB. He had said, “We’re going to do everything we can to develop (Dart) and bring him along. I like the way (Dart) plays; I like his competitive fire, and I like his accuracy. I like his ability to push the ball down the field and his athletic ability to run with the football.”
According to reports, talking about Daboll, Dart said, “He’s the guy that will walk in a room, say goodbye and whatnot, and then he’ll come back 30 seconds later because he has an idea. So, he’s constantly coaching me, and I think that’s what I want to be around.” The duo will be carrying a lot of aspirations of New York fans, either in 2025 or definitely after the upcoming season, as two veteran QBs are on the line, too.
