Some people would agree to the fact that nothing happens in the Dallas Cowboys without Jerry Jones’ stamp of approval. Whether it’s play calling, publicity, or addressing the media, Jones has a say in everything. And now some analysts are saying that this might be the reason why Dak Prescott can’t progress any further as a Cowboy. Moreover, he has come to the end of his deal with the team.

A lot of people also agree with the fact that the Cowboys should move on from Prescott and draft a new QB in the coming times like LeSean McCoy. But Cam Newton thinks that Prescott needs to be more demanding and vocal towards Jerry Jones for the Dallas team to make progress. He discussed the situation with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay.

Shannon Sharpe pointed out one of Jerry Jones’ statements where he said, “We’re only going to go as far as Dak carries us, and this was as far as he could carry us.” The former TE then posed a question to Cam Newton, “What are you seeing from Dak? What’s going on with Dak? What’s going on with the Cowboys offense that In big games, he doesn’t play his best?”

Newton had a message for Dak Prescott as he tried to answer Sharpe’s question, “We looking for that m***** f****** dog…..And I don’t think Jerry Jones will allow him to become that. Because you’ve got to be politically correct. You got to be the almost the president of football almost to be the signal caller for the Dallas Cowboys.”

He then added, “What Dallas Cowboys need at that quarterback is somebody saying no f*** that. This is my s***. This is what we’re going to do.” Sharpe then pointed out how Jerry Jones “wants to win his way.” “So those are going to be very combative forces that I don’t know if they can get to that next level,” replied Newton. But other forces at play might occupy Jerry Jones’ mind. Dak Prescott isn’t the only problem the Cowboys have to deal with right now.

The Cowboys’ causes for concern

CeeDee Lamb is set to become a free agent next year. He proved his mettle in the last season, so the Cowboys might want to keep him around. Also, this time next year, Micah Parsons’ contract might need re-negotiation. The receiver and the linebacker solidified their position as some of the top performers on the team. That’s why many think that the Dallas team will let their QB go.

Adam Schefter weighed in on the situation and called the Cowboys a “sleeper team” that will draft a QB this year. “What are they going to do at quarterback if they lose Dak? That’s interesting. And that’s why I think the Cowboys might be a sleeper team in the quarterback market during the draft,” said Schefter on NFL Live and added, “Because at some point in time, they might have to draft a quarterback.”

The hosts of SPEAK also have the same ideology. The logical course of action would be to let this season play out and see if Prescott’s contract still has room for negotiation or if will he be shipped out to some other team.
