While the Gang Green were recovering from the week 5 shocker against the Cowboys, their 5th loss of the season, everyone had their eyes on head coach Aaron Glenn. In week 6, there is uncertainty about the status of 2 starters for the game against the Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London. Here are the details!

Wide receiver Allen Lazard and cornerback Michael Carter II did not fly with the team Monday night, October 6th, as per the Jets.

Allen Lazard remained behind because of a personal matter, leaving his availability for Sunday’s game in question. The team clarified that missing the initial team flight doesn’t automatically rule him out of the contest.

If Lazard travels later in the week, he can still suit up for the game. However, should he miss Week 6 entirely, wide receiver Tyler Johnson would likely see increased playing time and targets in the offensive rotation.

Lazard hasn’t had a big impact so far this season, recording only four catches for 24 yards and one touchdown through five weeks. In 2023, Lazard had 23 catches for 311 yards and one touchdown. And in 2024, he improved to 37 catches for 530 yards and six touchdowns. The Jets will hope he can return soon to help boost the offense.

Meanwhile, cornerback Michael Carter II also didn’t make the trip to London because he’s in the NFL’s concussion protocol. He suffered the injury in Week 4 against the Dolphins and was officially ruled out for Week 5. Carter has struggled lately.

Last season, he ranked outside the top 180 cornerbacks in overall and coverage grades, and his numbers this year have dropped even more. It’s been tough for him to return to form after multiple injuries, and there are growing questions about his future with the team. If Carter is ruled out, the Jets could turn to newly acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who came from the Titans.

So, while both Lazard and Carter have a chance to rejoin the team later in the week, the Jets are already preparing backup plans in case they can’t go on Sunday.

Aaron Glenn re-signs punt returner/WR

The New York Jets made another surprising roster move this week, bringing back wide receiver and return man Isaiah Williams just two days after releasing him. The Jets added Williams back to their practice squad, reuniting with him after his brief time off the roster.

It’s been a rough season for the Jets under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn. The team is 0-5, and almost every week has brought a new mistake or setback.

In Week 1, a costly fumble by returner Xavier Gipson helped the Steelers steal a win. The Jets quickly released him afterward. In Week 2, quarterback Justin Fields suffered a concussion during a blowout loss to the Bills. By Week 4, it was Williams’ turn to face the heat after a string of special teams errors. Williams was filling in as the kick returner after Gipson’s release, but things didn’t go well.

Against the Miami Dolphins, he fumbled a return that led to a two-possession deficit. Later, he made another big mistake by calling for a fair catch inside the five-yard line. It gave the Dolphins great field position instead of letting the ball roll into the end zone. Those errors led to his release before the Week 5 matchup against the Cowboys.

Despite his struggles, the Jets decided to give Williams another chance. He didn’t make much of an impact as a receiver. But the team believes there’s still potential for him to develop as a return specialist. Williams has shown flashes of speed and athleticism.

The move shows that the Jets still see something in him, even after a rough start, and with how chaotic their season has been so far, they’re clearly keeping every option open.
