The New York Jets’ playoff odds are almost dead now. Amid the ongoing troubles surrounding the team’s quarterback situation, head coach Aaron Glenn has finally stepped forward with a plan. “The Jets will again start QB Brady Cook against the Patriots as they look to give the rookie more reps ahead of the offseason,” Jones wrote in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter).

Following the insider update, Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn himself stepped forward to add more clarity on the decision. Brady will be our starting quarterback,” Glenn said. “Listen, there were some things in that game. I think if you were to go back and watch the beginning of the game, I thought he was doing a really, really good job. Remember, as the game progressed, I will say this: between Brady making some mistakes, between the protection of the O-line, and between some of the concepts we had for him, all of our hands are involved in some of the mistakes that happened with that game. I thought he did a really good job at the beginning of that game, managing the game the right way.”

With questions surrounding J.J. McCarthy’s injury in Minnesota, Justin Fields has been mentioned in outside speculation as a potential fallback option for the Vikings, placing his name on the league’s rumor mill even as the Jets make their quarterback decision.

Brady Cook entered the NFL in 2025 as an undrafted free agent after not being selected in the draft. He signed with the Jets on May 9, 2025, and spent the early season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster in December 2025 due to injuries ahead of Week 14 action.

His NFL debut came in a 34-10 loss vs. Miami, where he completed 14/30 for 163 yards with 2 interceptions and was sacked six times. His best performance was in Week 15 at Jacksonville. The game saw him complete 22/33 for 176 yards and throw his first career touchdown to Adonai Mitchell, but he also had 3 interceptions in a 48-20 loss.
