Things are not looking good for the New York Jets this season. As if a 0-7 record wasn’t enough, Aaron Glenn just got news every coach dreads. Turns out, Braelon Allen’s injury has taken a turn for the worse. With Breece Hall trade rumors already flying around, it’s nothing short of a nightmare scenario for the team. Here’s the latest on Allen’s injury update.

On Monday, the franchise RB took to Instagram to share a picture of his recovering knee, captioning the post, “Day by day.” Reacting to the post, ESPN reporter Rich Cimini claimed that the athlete has probably undergone surgery for his injured knee.

“When the injury first happened, Aaron Glenn mentioned that Allen had two choices — either go through surgery or try rehab — and both options would’ve taken about the same recovery time (around 2–3 months),” he wrote.

Doctor of Physical Therapy replied: “Braelon Allen’s 2025 season is very likely done.”

Well, so is the Jets’ season, so why rush Allen to come back this year?

Earlier this month, Braelon suffered an MCL sprain during their loss against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. The team’s head coach moved him to injured reserve on October 2 with no expectations of seeing him before eight to twelve weeks.

And as if the update on Allen was not a big enough blow for the Jets, they’ll be rendered even weaker in the backfield if Breece Hall leaves. Aaron Glenn, who’s already facing the heat for his benching of the $40 million quarterback Justin Fields, can’t afford this. With the 2025 NFL trade deadline approaching, we wonder if Hall is sticking around.

The Breece Hall situation

The New York Jets seem to be in a big dilemma. They could either go all in on the midseason shake-ups or stick with their existing roster till the season draws to a close. The time is running out, and they must decide soon, with teams already eyeing several of their key pieces.

Per reports, teams have enquired about both Breece Hall and defensive end Jermaine Johnson, among other Jets players. As for Hall, he wants to continue playing for the Jets, with head coach Aaron Glenn downplaying such talks. The team boss, in fact, has stood firm behind the RB since the offseason.

Even last week, he brushed off the speculation, saying, “They’re rumors… I still feel the same way.” However, Hall remains a pending free agent, one without a contract extension. The player has a high probability of joining a contender this season. With multiple teams going after him, the bidding would be intense. Jonathan Jones from CBS Sports believes that the Jets have been “stubborn” about how much they want in return.

The team could still change its view as the deadline nears. If Hall gets out of the picture, who will fill in for Allen, who is done for the season?
