The noise around Breece Hall just won’t quiet down. Despite months of rumors tying him to contenders like the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Jets decided to hold on to their star running back at the trade deadline. But apparently, there’s more to the story. And this time, it’s coming straight from a former Jets quarterback.

While talking to 93.2 The Fan, Boomer Esiason shared his perspective on what’s really going on inside the Jets’ locker room. “I feel the Jets’ locker room might deflate unless they give somebody contract extension before the game comes,” Esiason said. “But, you know, you’ve got guys like two of their best players, Jermaine Johnson, who’s going into his fifth year, they picked up the option.”

Then he dropped the real shocker. “And of course, Brees Hall, they’re a very talented running back who really wanted to be traded.” So why is Esiason so sure? He didn’t hesitate to back up his claim.

“They [Jets] have a pretty strict social media policy at the Jets, which I really do appreciate. But there are a couple of things that have leaked out over the last few weeks by Brees Hall.”

And honestly, he’s not wrong. After Sauce Gardner was traded, Hall posted a GIF on X that made it seem like he was keeping a close eye on the Jets’ moves. Then came another post, right after the Williams trade, just a queasy emoji. Nothing directly, but the timing said enough. And he deleted the posts soon after the deadline.

As a result, Esiason believes the Jets “have a lot of mental hurdles that they got to get over the next four or five days.” But amid all the noise and trade talk, Breece Hall finally broke his silence.

Breece Hall addresses the Chiefs rumors

For the past few days, many reports suggested that the Chiefs offered the Jets a fourth-round pick for Breece Hall, but Gang Green held their ground. After all the speculation, Hall finally broke his silence.

He told reporters on Wednesday that he never formally requested a trade from the Jets before the deadline. That statement was clear. But when pressed on whether he wanted to be traded, he dodged a bit. And that’s exactly why fans across Jet Nation are reading between the lines.

Meanwhile, the numbers tell a story of their own. Hall has been electric, rushing for 581 yards and two touchdowns while averaging a solid 5.0 yards per carry. He’s also added 21 catches for 178 yards.

And let’s not forget his game-winning touchdown pass in that 39–38 comeback over the Bengals in Week 8, the Jets’ first win of the season.

Trading him could’ve added some draft capital. But it would’ve left the Jets without one of their few bright spots. And for now, it looks like Gang Green isn’t ready to lose that spark.
