New York Jets’  head coach Aaron Glenn is getting flak for the wrong reasons. While an inappropriate celebration can get you fined, one before a win could also land you in hot water. Coach Glenn will know this better. Glenn’s goofy sideline dance went viral, with everyone sharing their own takes on the matter. While many fans chose to criticise the gesture, former Jets player C.J. Mosley has a different opinion.

He believes that the coach should be allowed to express his emotions. “Him showing his, you know, him being himself on the sideline,” Mosley said in an interview with Brandon London. “There’s nothing wrong with that. That was a big play. Obviously, it didn’t turn out the way, the team wanted it to, but you can’t be afraid to be yourself. You can’t be afraid to, show your true passion just because, you’re not winning in the game. Who you are is just who you are. So, I hope he keep that same energy. I hope the next time we get a big play, he’s dancing again and at the end of the day or the end of the game, the whole team will be celebrating.” he explained as he urged the coach to keep up the energy.

After all, the Jets were inches from victory after a rough 0-2 start. With just 1:49 left, defensive end Will McDonald blocked a 43-yard field goal by the Buccaneers and took it 50 yards, for a touchdown. Bringing the Jets back from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit. It was an electrifying moment, and Coach Glenn’s gesture is understandable. But despite the comeback, the Jets couldn’t pull it off and ended up losing 29-27 and down to a 0-3 record.

And perhaps this was when the perspective of the incident changed. Mosley believes that had the Jets secured the win, this dance would have had a different meaning. “So, I don’t see anything wrong with that,” he suggested. “Obviously, if a win was at the end of that dance, they’ll be praising them and making funny jokes, but it’s easy to point at certain things that stand out when you lose a game.”

Mosley also pointed out how now the 49ers‘ defensive coordinator, Robert Saleh would dance every time the defense made big plays. So, coach Glenn can take peace in knowing that the former Jets approved of his reaction to a big play despite a streak of losses.

However, the rest of the NFL world and the fandom have continued to take a dig at the coach’s happy dance.

Fans criticise Aaron Glenn’s celebration moves

Glenn’s sideline moves clearly didn’t go unnoticed by the fanbase.  “Dancing to ANOTHER LOSS,” one wrote after kicker Chase McLaughlin‘s 36-yard game-winning field goal ended the Jets’ hope. The Jets rallied from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to briefly take the lead. The late field goal understandably disappointed the fans.

That saw another take a sharp shot at the coach’s dance. “0-3. Then he’s clapping at the end of the game like they won it. Total joke,” one fan wrote. The Bucs looked comfortable and were quite stable until the Jets made two late touchdowns and McDonald’s blocked field goal return. There was tension in the air.

This fan believes the Bucs saw the coach’s dance and used it to motivate themselves. “FREAKING CLOWN!!! You think TAMPA didn’t see that celebration?? Talk about not needing any motivation for Tampa Bay!! Amateur coach!” Many chose composure when the game suddenly became tense, such as this one. However, many choose to express their emotions like Coach Glenn. And sometimes, it gets dramatic, too.

Well, this time, it might not have been the coach’s gesture. The Jets had a poor start. While they managed to stay close, quarterback Tylor Taylor threw a pick-six, which saw the Bucs take a 20-6 lead. “When I saw that, I was like bruh, it’s still a minute left in the game,” another wrote, urging the coach to be patient.

Fans continued to share their reactions across social media. “Just for that to lose…,” another wrote. The criticism hasn’t doused Glenn’s spirits.

“We’re 0-3. How many more games do we have? Fourteen? That speaks for itself,” Glenn said. “We have a lot of games to go play, and we can build off this.” The question now is how soon Jets fans will get to see their team win in the remaining 14 games.
