The New York Jets’ season feels all but over. They’re sitting at 0–6, and unless someone’s got a time machine to take them back to 1944, when the Green Bay Packers pulled off the impossible, the playoff dream is dead. Miracles can happen in football, but even they need some help. And right now, the Jets are losing the one guy they couldn’t afford to lose.

According to insider Adam Schefter, wide receiver Garrett Wilson is suffering from an injury and will be out for at least two weeks.
“An MRI today revealed that Jets WR Garrett Wilson hyperextended his knee and he now is expected to miss, as one source said, “a couple of weeks,”” Schefter wrote on X.

Of all the gut punches the Jets have taken this season, this one might sting the most. Sure, it’s “just” two weeks. But the timing couldn’t be worse. The Jets are heading into their softest stretch of the season with games against the Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns.

All winnable. At least on paper. Lose all three, and head coach Aaron Glenn could easily be out of a job before November ends. And now, Justin Fields will have to do it without his best (and basically only) weapon in the passing game.
Wilson is the Jets’ offense this season. He’s the only wide receiver on the roster with more than 10 catches or 100 yards. He’s hauled in 36 passes for 395 yards, while every other wideout combined has… 20 catches for 183 yards.

He’s been the one bright spot in an otherwise lifeless unit, leading the AFC in receptions and yards before the Broncos game, and tied for first in touchdowns. Even when he had an off night (3 catches for 13 yards), defenses still had to key in on him. His absence is going to change everything for this offense.
And for Fields, it’s a nightmare scenario. Losing your WR1 when you’re already struggling behind a leaky offensive line is a quarterback’s worst-case scenario. Especially when your head coach just publicly called you out.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Aaron Glenn's job on the line if the Jets can't win without Garrett Wilson?

Aaron Glenn calls Justin Fields out
The Jets’ offense hit rock bottom Sunday. It was bad. Like, historically bad. So bad that Aaron Glenn, who’s been defending Fields all season long, finally broke character.
“Listen, I didn’t think he was bad at all. I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back. I’m with you guys 100 percent. And we can’t have that,” the head coach said.
He wasn’t exaggerating. Fields’ stat line looked like something out of a preseason meltdown: 9 of 17, nine sacks, and negative 10 net passing yards. The offensive line was atrocious, but even so, that’s the kind of number that makes highlight reels for all the wrong reasons.

Before that disaster, Fields actually ranked a respectable 18th in QBR (94.2). But after this one, that’s out the window. The Jets came into the game 20th in scoring and 24th in total offense. But they somehow found a way to look worse than those rankings suggest.

“And we have to get better than that. And he knows that. “And he knows that better than anyone. So I don’t think you try to bench a player after having one true bad game. Because I thought the other games he played fairly well,” Glenn added.
Still, it feels like Fields is on borrowed time. Another performance like that, and you have to imagine Glenn turns to Tyrod Taylor. The veteran has spent most of the last seven years as a backup but still brings stability and experience. Taylor even got a spot start back in Week 3, and if Fields struggles again, Jets fans might be seeing him a lot sooner than expected.
