Caleb Williams went to the Bears, and Jayden Daniels went to the Commanders. Drake Maye finally had his turn as the New England Patriots selected the QB as the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL 2024 draft. But this move reminded people of Mac Jones when he was chosen as the 15th overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Despite the good news, something about this was funny to Sauce Gardner, who posted on X a few minutes ago. He still sees it as if the Patriots were drafting Mac Jones all over again. In the post, the New York Jets CB wrote, “I thought I just seen Mac Jones in the Patriots section when Drake Maye got drafted😂.” Regardless of what Gardner thinks about Maye, the New England Patriots believe the North Carolina quarterback is the perfect fit to play in the cold Gillette Stadium.

The team already has a decent O-Line to protect the QB but doesn’t have a go-to receiver. While the tackle department is doing fine, the wideout area is suffering. Kendrick Bourne, Juju Smith-Schuster, and KJ Osborn haven’t been able to do enough in the last season. However, things might finally change because the team is working under a new HC.

Perhaps Jerod Mayo can coach Drake Maye and mold him into what will benefit the Patriots the most. Maye’s impressive arm talent will help Mayo achieve this feat, which might help the Pats find a new direction as the QB will join Jacoby Brissett, who is reuniting with the Patriots again. Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke also join Maye.

Though the QB just joined the New England Patriots, he is expected to pick up after Tom Brady after he left the team in dismay.

Will it be déjà vu for the Patriots?

Robert Griffin III posted his views on Maye going to the Pats. He wrote on X, “Drake Maye has everything you want from a franchise QB. Strong Arm, playmaking ability, can throw from any platform and doesn’t back down when adversity strikes. He just wants to play ball and compete. Now he does it for the storied @Patriots in the post-Brady Era. Go get it!”

Some of the fans in the comment section believe that Maye will be a “bust,” while others wish that the Patriots would surround him with decent weapons to work with. What we don’t want happening to Maye is his fate ending the same as Mac Jones, whose performance declined over the years as his potential died slowly with the Patriots.

How do you think Drake Maye will fare as a Patriot?
