Cornerback Sauce Gardner had a hard tackle during the season opener against the 49ers. Everyone was worried about a potential injury while he sat out the 2nd quarter. During the collision with Deebo Samuel, he hit his shoulder, forcing him to watch the game from the sidelines for some time.

While he later returned to the field, the Jets lost the game by 19-32. After the game, everyone was worried about the CB. But he has come up with a reply that is soothing to everyone. Quashing injury rumors in an X post, he set the record straight about what happened during the game.

In a now-deleted tweet, Gardner wrote, “So let me get this straight, y’all really think I tackled Deebo and was just like “man ian doing that nomore” and took myself out the game?😂 Whatever happened was temporary and when it went away, I went back in lol. Simple as that.” Things weren’t as simple during the game as the CB put it in his tweet.

Despite adding the veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets couldn’t clinch victory against the 49ers. Rival QB Brock Purdy made 6 of 6 passes before setting up a field goal. Even after Gardner was on the field, the 49ers had 8 straight possessions and opened the season on a winning note.

One striking thing about Sauce Gardner’s injury scare is that he and Deebo Samuel have a bit of history.

Sauce Gardner & Deebo Samuel warned each other before the game

The Jets CB is known for his trash-talking. And he believes that it puts many players off the track. Talking about his reasoning behind the trash talking, he said, “That’s the good thing about trash talking. Get people out of their game, they get to doing extra stuff, messing up their timing with the quarterback.” But he also loves someone who can reply.

One such player is 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel. He is known for his replies to such trash talkers. Before the game, he had warned the CB by saying, “He talk a lot of junk, so we just go out there, strap it up, and get ready to go.” They went against each other in which the WR emerged victorious. But the CB isn’t one to back down easily.
